Odd headline on the BBC website just now. Sold-out Emirates for Arsenal women v Tottenham women on BBC2

Did they only have 30k tickets for sale or are they all still in the queue for the toilets?
That's because they count all ST holders as attending, same as the men's games, rather than the actual turnstile count like we do. I always remember a Europa league group game a couple of seasons ago where there can't have been more than 25 or 30k there, the whole of the top tier was empty and the attendance was given as 59k, even the pundits were taking the p*ss. Embarrassing really
I have always wondered if that is seen as fraud to the taxman. I suppose the season tickets are already bought and paid for but it seems fishy. They have been doing this for years.
Clubs are legally required to know the exact number of people attending each game for safety reasons and to plan in advance for expected attendances, according to the Sports Ground Safety Authority. However, they do not need to release this information. According to the BBC, authorities generally accept there is sometimes a difference between publicised attendance figures and those obtained by BBC Sport.

Some clubs said they publish ‘tickets sold’ because the data is more consistent and provides a simpler auditing process, the BBC reports.

However, football finance expert Rob Wilson said he believes publicising ‘tickets sold’ attendance figures is done for commercial reasons, according to the BBC.

He said publishing higher attendance figures could “potentially bring in better sponsors” and generate more interest in season ticket sales by making them appear a “scarce resource.”

The Guardian had a similar headline but went a bit further:

"The rumbling drum that signals the growth of women’s football is getting louder by the week. A crowd of 60,050 – the second highest in Women’s Super League history – at a sold-out Emirates Stadium watched Arsenal’s defeat of Tottenham."

A little disingenuous I guess with a big dollop of hyperbole as well. Not sure why they need to do this, a crowd of 40k or so is pretty impressive in its own right.

Thought Werner did well, full of running and great deliveries. I think I prefer Son through the middle

Another penalty not given?
Maybe he should have ran a few more steps before flinging his arms up. Seems to yield results.

What a co-incidence that the ref Klopp called corrupt last season after their win against us (bizarre I know), gifted them a bizarre late winner and then is suspiciously demoted for this weekend. coffee

I said it at the time, the whole replaygate thing was just ridiculous it was a blatant attempt to bully the refs and it worked, Liverpool have been on the positive end of some outrageous decisions since.

Artetas the same, no coincidence looking at the table above that the two biggest bullies in the league get the most pens.

Oh this is brilliant… no problem when bad decisions go in your favour rofl
Win more games and your guys would be right up there to. Same goes for my team.

We had one bad decision go in our favour and we've been paying for it ever since. Since then, we've had one penalty, and no red cards in our favour, despite there being plenty of very good shouts for both.

However in one match, we did get our player sent off with a second yellow for simulation. Prior to this, can you tell me the last time you actually saw a player being sent off for diving? I'll wait.

You'd probably argue these things should work themselves out over the course of a season or three but despite what probability tells you should happen, some teams always seem to do better in this regard than others, year in, year out. Maybe they are just very lucky?

Darren Bent was a gooner but played up front for us for us for 2 seasons back in 2007-2009.

Sol Campbell was a massive legend for you guys but still moved to us.

I wouldn't look too much into him having a tattoo of us and playing for you.

Great career move for Campbell but a pretty awful life choice I'd say , he still gets hounded & he probably knows deep down this maybe one of the reasons nobody will touch him these days , Spurs never warmed to George Graham or Terry O'Neill , I think the rivalry just runs too deep .

Big Pat is probably the only player or coach that gets the upmost respect from both of the big two London clubs .

I'm sure after getting totally financially shafted with Tanguy Ndombele that Spurs would make sure all the homework would be checked & double checked .

At the end of the day it's only work though to these guys I guess .

Tatts can be removed but it's very painful I'm told

Agree with both posts above, apart from that Campbell life choice bit.

If Spurs fans would accept it and let it go and not vilify him for it at every chance that it would have made life easier for him.

At the end of the day it is a job for these guys and if the opportunity arises to get more money and win more things, most people would choose it.

Happened to us many times with Cole/RVP/Nasri etc.

The Matt Le Tiss loyalty for one club type player days are long gone.
