I've not changed the subject at all. We're talking about who plays when. Of course Gerrard shouldn't play for 90 minutes every game BUT to drop him and most of the first 11 in a game like this is shameful. You'd be upset if you'd turned up to a home Carling Cup game and this was the team.
As for the Newcastle game, that's when he set out to try and nick a 0-0 from the kick off. Great strategy that was.
I'm sure those players did everything they could last season to be made to sit on the bench tonight. If he loses tonight he'll lose the dressing room for what he's done.
So you were wrong when you said it would be criminal to start with Gerrard again? As for the Newcastle game, that's when he set out to try and nick a 0-0 from the kick off. Great strategy that was.

I actually feel for some of those players on the pitch who know they've been offered up for the lions by a manager who told them it'd just be like Swansea.
What an utterly ridiculous thing to say.Great performance by a lot of those in red. Skrtel and Toure arguably our worst players.
The game is screaming for Sterling to come on for Markovic. If Sterling had been on some of the balls Marko has had in the first half we might have made something, or at least not given up possession!!
Proud so far of how the players that have been picked have played.
Moving forward, the next brave step is to continue to pick players that deserve to play on merit, rather than it being based on reputation?
We have squad depth, we need to be starting players on merit from here on in imo.

I'm certain that this wasn't the game to drop Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Lovren and Johnson, That's putting aside Balotelli and Lambert.
He may get out of jail of course, but I'm certain that if he should lose this game then he will have lost the trust of the senior players and he will look back and realise that this was a nail in his coffin.

In the context of the post and the discussion at the time that wasn't what I said. You can paste a few words together and ignore the wider discussion if you want. You win.

What? Why? The bookies had Real 4-1 faves to win tonight. Most of the supporters expected us to lose. Coming away from Real with 0 points it seems is just a formality - why should the starting XI make any difference.I'm certain that this wasn't the game to drop Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Lovren and Johnson, That's putting aside Balotelli and Lambert.

Besides which, those players you are saying should have started tonight were already 3-0 down by this stage - at home.
This Madrid side is rather good. I'm not seeing many weak links.
I think the Red men are acquitting themselves well. I'd like to see a few of the so called big guns chucked on to see if we can't have more of a go at them for the last 20, though I suspect the upshot will be a couple more goals conceded!

It's amusing seeing the "Bodger" haters laying into him before the game, and yet the team they said to go for was 3-0 down last week. Perhaps he's a bit better than you gave him credit for? That said, still time for us to make a few exceptional defensive blunders,
Aa mentioned though, very little sign of a goal from us.
