i think so. Whilst I understand it's a complete shame as this season is a great springboard to build on.

Can live with Shaw leaving for £30m as thats a lot of money to be re spent.

I suspect that it will be all-or-nothing for keeping the players and manager.

MoPo will be saying to the board that he'll staying if he can have the same players next season and the players will be inclined to leave if MoPo leaves.

I can see the merits in selling Rickie, as he's near the end of his career and the club can get some money for him before he retires, and he can get some money for his pension pot as he's not had any big money transfers in his career.

Looking forward to the Llama hopefully coming to Liverpool. Who will be the bigger miss for you if they both go, Shaw or llama?

Southampton must be absolutely nuts to sell Shaw or Lalana until after the world cup, their stock can only increase IMHO.

I agree in that Lallana will be the bigger miss by miles. £30m for Shaw is a good price and we can cope with Clyne at LB and Chambers at RB just fine with a good bit of cash to re-invest. Lallana is the heart of the team in more than just the on the pitch sense having stuck with us through Lg1 when he was the best player in the division by a mile and could have left... Thought he was going to be the next MLT for us. LaGod.

But seems a lot of people claiming to be in the know reckon he thinks it's his time to move? I don't fancy our chances of getting a similar standard of replacement for £20m - especially when you consider a good portion of that goes to Bourno. Did anyone stay to see the players lap at the end of the game on Sunday? Lallana seemed to be tapping the badge a hell of a lot when his name was sung... Didn't know if it was a "I will always love you, farewell.." thing or a "I'm going nowhere" thing...

Yeah, I think you're right... Maybe this is why we were being asked to renew our season tickets a month or so earlier than last year.... cry

Its very much highs and lows with the Saints. I'm so high because we had a great season because of our structure and now feeling low because money talks (as well as the champions league) and we will struggle to keep players. 1 more year + some investment could mean that we are in the champions league, but it looks like we will be taken apart by the vultures with more money.

Why would any manager want to go to Spuds when anything other than a top 4 finish will get you the sack !!

If MoPo stays good.
If he wants to go then thanks for the ride and lets move on.
He is not the only decent manager out there.
In SFC we trust.

TS did quite a good job at Spurs, and, I don't believe he would have been sacked unless they already had somebody else to fill the roll!

As a side note, my mate said, MoPo was speaking pretty good English when he saw him Sunday night?

Sherwood has the highest win percentage of any Spuds manager ever.....

What we'll do is, sell Shaw for £30m, which we will then use to pay Lallana £125k a week! Sorted smile

You need to get your facts right, we've sacked a manager for finishing top 4 as well.

hehe

I think the main reason behind the stalling of MoPo to commit is down to seeing whether the club fights to hold onto the key players. There's so much st floating around at the moment, it's impossible to see the bottom of the pool, but my gut feeling is aslong as we don't lose more than one key player (and I have a feeling that player will be Shaw) then MoPo will stay. Otherwise, what's he staying for? We won't be spending big bucks over the summer so the squad isn't going to make any great leaps forward from where it is now. We'll have to add to the squad to cover the likes of Guly and Jos leaving, but only some backups. I don't think we have any guys in the youth system ready to make the leap yet, other than perhaps Harrison Reed. He clearly wants European football, and if he's going to progress into it with us he'll need an even better squad than we have now. I think that will be pivotal as to whether he bunks or not. Personally I hope he doesn't, he's got us playing better football than we have in years.

I could be talking complete ste, of course! I have a feeling Moyes will end up at spuds.

At the end of the day if ANY player wants to leave a club there is little the club can do about it.
Unfortunately players have the upper hand these days. loyalty in football is such a rare thing now. The money is so massive at some of the big clubs it is difficult for talented players not to want a part of it.
If our top players do leave we will still be a top ten side and that will do for me if we can also throw in a decent cup run.
