Could you imagine, Jimmy case or Tommy Smith telling shanks or Paisley " sorry boss best put me on the bench as i'm feeling a little tired" ?

This is such a non story its untrue its only because Roy opened his cakehole and the press ran with it. Players have missed games for all sorts of reasons over the years some I would imagine far more banal and ridiculous than this one, Berghamp used to miss Arsenal games due to his fear of flying.

Its only that its a Liverpool player that BCM saw an opportunity for a dig and to do some wumming.

nono

He's just patriotic & would like to see England do well that's all.

He would've posted exactly the same even if Raheem played for Blackburn... Dude!

What a load of old twaddle,

You don't see Messi, Bale, Ronaldo & the other world greats cry off over a bit of tiredness.

Representing your country must be the ultimate achievement for any sportsman not making sure you are ready for QPR at home at the weekend ,no disrespect for QPR intended.

As a football manager would you prefer your player to hide it or play 75% and not put in a performance ? me , I would prefer to be told so I could then play someone who felt 100%

Nothing to do with it being the pinnacle of someones career or not - if he didn't feel 100% fit , irrespective of age surely he has done the right thing to tell the manager?
Spot on, Si. I follow quite a lot of pro footballers on Twitter and the vast majority of the ones I respect have backed Sterling. The odd one has disagreed as is their right but most say that he's got good reason to be tired (last season, World Cup then a bigger role at LFC this season) and could be rested. Just our media trying to spark stuff off again.

Well, given that one result of being tired is a severe reduction in ability, I think I'm surprised half the Spurs team aren't snoozing on the pitch.

hehe

I know I'm bloody tired of watching them. Responsibilities elsewhere mean I only get to see home games nowadays and we've won one home game since March. Reckon the manager is on a sticky wicket despite three promotions and an FA Trophy in his seven years with the club.

Latest squad announced and they really do everything they can to piss people off don't they?!

How on earth are Carrick and Walcott back in the squad? They haven't played properly for their clubs for about 8 months!

Lambert is getting picked and I don't think he's been on the pitch for more than 10 minutes since his move to Liverpool.

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Ben Foster (West Brom), Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Calum Chambers (Arsenal), Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United).

Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United, Stewart Downing (West Ham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

Forwards: Rickie Lambert (Liverpool), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Welbeck (Arsenal), Saido Berahino (West Brom).

Carrick in, Shelvey out. Who is more likely to be part of the future England midfield?

Laughable.

The only redeeming decision is to drop Johnson (hopefully for good) and bring in Clyne.

Pleased that Berahino has got his chance. First Albion outfield player to make an England squad in 30 years. Might actually watch the game now (probably to see him sit on the bench......)

What a joke Walcrock is in the squad, he hasn't even played a game in 10 months! rolleyes And I agree, Charlie Austin should be in the squad, his been good for QPR. Fraser Forster ahead of Joe Hart for me.

I bet Wenger is delighted to see Walnut make the squad.
