Thisnisnwhete player power has gone too far IMO. it nearly destroyed American football in the late 80s.

Clubs need to be held accountable by UEFA for their actions in the transfer market. We're not exactly squeaky clean though, just see the Pedro scenario where we could easily be seen to be tapping him up.

However, a refusal to play for the team they are contracted to should have a ruling in place where a player may not be transferred or loaned for a minimum of 12 months and no salary is payable either. Whilst draconian I'm sure there could be a way of having this as a part of the player code of conduct that all agree to when turning professional.

And people were surprised when I called him a rat. He's playing at Mr dhead and proving how pathetic, childish and spoiled players are these days. His girlfriend is obviously telling him what to do, as well.
That was me.....you were on to something it seems.

So many players let their wives dictate where they play its ridiculous- Considering all they do is go shopping with the money they earn they should learn to shut the fk up...

Be a big loss but the Argie lad looked ok the other day ..

Or game time isn't that his gripe at Barca?

You seem to spend a lot of time on this thread, despite being a Scouser. Reading between the lines, it's clear that your purpose it try to stir up a City discussion, whilst having a dig at us as if we're some sort of second class club now. We might not have won the League in two years, but that's no disaster, we'll win it again before you do and you're on the cusp of breaking that 26 year barrier that you all loved to take the piss out of us for.
Not sure why you are being so delicate here - you can quite easily match anything City pay in wages so if you are both going for him my point was it will probably be the team that offer the most in wages gets the players -that could easily be you.

On strike is a bit strong/embelishing the stated facts in my view. "Not eager to play because of the situation" is not on strike. Also hasn't DDG said he was commited to United but LVG was not sure about his abilities so didn't give him the assurances he wanted? Always 2 sides to a story.

At the end of the day, if his heart is set on Madrid, he has to go. No point in dragging it out.

If he stayed another year though he would make miles more money - his signing on fee would be huge from Real - im shocked he just does not stay another year?

You lot weren't too concerned when Berbatov did similar to de Gea in his successful bid to leave Spurs for United. What goes around comes around.

Its stupid. The amount of money he earns at United, and will do at Real Madrid he would rather sit tight, kick up a fuss, annoy other team mates then hand in a transfer request and forgo a bonus but play for the team he wants to. Mental.

You have to wonder in these situations his Agent/Advisors tell them to not too do it as they know the clubs will fold after a while and just want to get rid.

I read the same thing about Balotelli. If he stays with Liverpool and trains with the U21's then this summer he picks up another 6 figure payment.

Indeed, i was going to mention something along these lines too.

Always happens when the bigger clubs come calling, i wonder what will happen if Romero has a nightmare game.

Surely is RM wanted him to hand in transfer request, they'd just make up his lost bonus payment in signing on fees? Seems to me RM want him and he wants RM but they were hoping to get him on the cheap. So the reality is that they aren't THAT into him. RM are happy to weight until next season and get him on a free. Somewhat left him out to dry. He can sulk and huff but United aren't going to take a cheap offer.

Not sure about United's strategy - are they hoping he'll have a change of heart next season and re-sign or that RM will no longer be interested?

Utd are playing classic hardball, and they can afford to do so.

If he stays a year and disappears next year on a free, so what? We don't need the money.

RM can pay a decent price or wait.

I don't agree. We all know that in a week or so we'll agree to sell him for a knockdown price as RM will have upped their virtually non existent offer to something still low, but at a level that we can almost save face by selling him.

It's all a load of bks when you look at it. What frustrates me is that we seem to get into situations when buying and selling where we hold few of the cards and the selling / buying club has the trump cards.

We only paid 16m for him in the first place, so I presume United dont mind writing that off if he goes for a free next year. I wonder if there is something behind the scenes about previous potential deals on Contrao, Bale and maybe Real mucked united around so they are now telling Real either pay the asking price or we wont sell him.

Yes we lose him on a free next year but it will annoy Real and they only have Navas as first choice.

As big as Man utd are even they can't justify losing £10- 15m as a matter of principal.

I agree with the Loony one he'll be gone by September the 1st.

I do agree that De gayer should MTFU & tell his wife who's the boss no matter how much Manchester looks like a back of a fridge.

Surely the girlfriend thing is just convenient for De Gea? He actually wants to go to Real, doesn't he?
