I thought that it would be a long time before Chelsea were usurped as the most hated team in England.
Well, I still think that particular cap is a snug fit.

I can't see myself hating City. We can hardly chant "where were you when you were st" at them as unlike Chelski fans they were actually there!!

I'll detest their owners though as it's just wrong to try and buy success. Mind you, there is no guarantee they will win anything......

Lets hope they employ Peter Kenyon, as that toad will virtually guarantee failure in Europe.

Taken from another BB but thought it deserves a posting on here:-

" Has anyone ever witnessed a more rapid abandonment of principles than that shown by City fans this week?

For years they have banged on about being the people’s club; a football club that is still a football club as opposed to an organisation obsessed with money; supporters who were in it for the love of the club, the love of the game; 30 years and we’re still here; the true Manchester club; ‘This is our city’ and all that nonsense. An entire generation of fans who have built their identity purely on being whatever United are not.

And what were United? A greedy, rich club that bought success with its vast wealth. Wealth which came before all else, acquired through disgraceful commercialism and a soulless disregard for the beautiful game. Fans who cared only about trophies and expensive signings, and who understood nothing of what it meant to be a true football fan - a City fan for example.

But this is the United whose fans at least cared about retaining its identity as a Mancunian football club. When foreign owners with the wrong motives came sniffing round Manchester United, we fought and fought and fought to keep them away. We used every means legal, and some illegal ones too. We mobilised, we collected, we protested, we campaigned, we lobbied, we vandalised, we wrote, we phoned, we emailed, we rallied, we marched, we flash-mobbed, we rioted. We made it impossible for them to visit Manchester peacefully. And the loss of our club to people who didn’t give a toss about its identity and traditions meant so much that some of us walked away altogether. Home and awayers with decades of fanaticism to their names had decided that forming a new club, with the incredible effort that entailed, was the only alternative to seeing their club used as some egotistical bd’s plaything.

Contrast this with 1st September 2008. The only sound you could hear that day was that of 100,000 zips being simultaneously lowered as the blue quarter of Manchester collectively dropped its trousers and bent over, willing to be shamelessly violated by some slimy rich man’s cock. Not a shred of pride, not a moment’s defence of their supposedly salt of the earth club; just a panting mass, all ready to be anybody’s bh in exchange for money with which they can buy success.

There really is only one true football club in Manchester, and it’s not Manchester City"
quality whimpering!

united fans were in uproar because of the financing structure which has left them servicing horrific interest payments on loans. any suggestion that it was because of principles is bks!

city fans abandoned principles! that's the funniest and most jealous thing i've seen written about all this! we've been praying for proper investment for decades! we've seen plenty of false dawn with respect to this, then someone comes along with resources beyond our wildest dreams.

hughes will know the galacticos model doesn't work, madrid showed this with zidane, figo, raul, ronaldo (the proper one), carlos, etc etc... it only got them limited success.

i get the feeling if liverpool had been bought by DIC a year ago, it would have been accepted. because it's city who have the temerity to threaten the top 4 cartel and the G14, it's the 'end of football'. get a fking grip!

This is not proper investment. This is insanity. Glory hunting by owners who know fk all about English football and care even less.

I repeat what I said earlier. They will not give a damn about the fans. They do not need your money.

These people are only in it to show off how big their bks are. And when they're finished with buying trophies for their vanity, they will move on to the next fad, be it Formula One or The Americas Cup or flying to the moon and to hell with Manchester City.

The 'frontman' freely admits that the consortium's first target was Arsenal. You were bought on the rebound.

I genuinely feel sorry for the institution that is Manchester City Football Club. It died on 1st September 2008.

R.I.P.

Enjoy the trophies lads.

and what would you say about their investment in horse racing?

is that just for vanity or have they breathed life back into a sport that was slowly running out of cash?

yes It was quite astounding watching the good Doctor talking about his plans for Man City earlier on the Sky interview. Here, clearly, was a man who knows absolutely fk all about English football or what makes it the best in the world. He is a man who just buys what he wants and expects immediate success. He might be in for a surprise.

Completely different situation. The Marktoums(sp) know all about horse racing, are passionate about it and invest money developing the sport that they love.

These people wouldn't know one end of a football pitch from another (sic). They do not give a fk about Manchester City not any other team. They don't care about whether or not their investment helps or destroys football.

They want trophies to wave about and brag to their friends. The Marktoums have been involved in racing for years and will leave a wonderful legacy.

These crooks will smash, grab and run. They will interfere in team selection, hire and fire at will and why should they bother with developing talent in the club when they can splash out another £40 million on a right back?

You mark my words.

The Glazers have invested in United by borrowing money against assets. They need the club to succeed to get their investment back and return a profit. They are clever enough not to get involved in the day to day running of any of their sports teams, be it football, Hockey or American football Whether this strategy will work is moot at the moment but, at least they are in for the medium to long term.

The Middle Eastern investors bought City as a plaything. They will decide which players are bought, who the manager is etc etc. They will not sit on the sidelines as the Glazers have done.

And when they become bored, they will move on.

One spin off from the crazy oil price boom is a load of Arabian 'princes' with way more money than sense.

don't get where you're coming from. the sheikhey has already stated that mark hughes will identify players he wants and he will get them, with money as no object.

the robinho purchase and comments about ronaldo etc is all 'we are here, beware!' type willy waving. basically doing what chelsea, manyoo and madrid have done for years.

good to see the G14 brainwashing isn't restricted to floppy cock pele only!

The Brazilian stunned football by making a £32.5m move to Eastlands and not, as expected, to Londoners Chelsea.

However, it appears the 24-year-old's deadline day move has still to sink in.

"On the last day, Chelsea made me a great proposal and I accepted it," he said, to which a reporter replied: "You mean Manchester right?". "Yeah, Manchester, sorry!" answered Robinho.

Robinho's transfer overshadowed news of the other big-money deal on Monday, that of Dimitar Berbatov's £31m switch from Tottenham to rivals Manchester United.

However, it was later reported that the deal - funded by new City owners Abu Dhabi United Group - was concluded without Robinho, 24, taking a medical or even fully understanding the personal terms of his contract.

Mike Ashley might have cocked up at Newcastle big time, but when it comes to business he is no mug...

He sold 40% of Sports Direct at around £3.00 per share, neting him around £950m, and is busy buying them back at around .70p....

The only mugs are the people that bought his shares..........

Rumour has it that Robinho is under the impression he's signed for United, and Hughes is still a striker.

He's gonna be so upset.
