He was abysmal. Utterly abysmal.

What game were you watching?
The same as you biggrin

Now tell me WHAT decisions he got wrong - not silly half arse fouls in the middle of the park, or contested throw ins on the half way line ... the big decisions, come on ... list them ...

Dunno, no smiley or such like.

That said, even if he was, there are a LOT of fans who do have that knee-jerk reaction.

Well, that result puts the cat among the pidgeons!

I said last week that for us to overhaul you, you had to lose 2 of your last 5 games whilst we have to win all of ours and that wasn't going to happen. But then I was assuming this game was nailed-on.

This weekends match is kind of a win-win for us Spuds now. If you lose 3rd is back in our hands and if Chelsea lose we'll have some clear space behind us...hopefully. 'Course, thats not factoring our ability to throw any advantage we might gain out of the window at QPR.

Still, I didn't see this coming. St Totteringhams day just got set-back a week me'thinks. biggrin

Like the way you discount Newcastle, they're just as likely to finish 3rd as you are.

Newcastle have a tough run in....there last three games are Chelsea away, Man City at home and Everton away.

A draw looks the most likely result tbh.

Just hoping Drogba injures himself whilst performing a triple salco against Messie FC biggrin

what ever happens the "race" for 3/4 is far from over for any of the 4 in it !

yes

Much as most neutrals might want Newcastle to nick a top 4 berth I can't see it happeneing. Kudos to them though - they've left their purple-patch for the right time in the season - unlike a certain club I can think of.

Arteta is out for the rest of the season rolleyes

If we can take any positives from this potentially dangerous and devastating news it is that the OX should get more game time.

Chelsea. Bring it!

not confident after watching them tonight

Have you guys heard Patrick Kluiverts(sp) comments today, he says RVP has to leave Arsenal in order to win big trophies.

Similar stories are coming out about Modric to Utd. When will there be a defining point where players/agents/press come to relise that this odius transfer merry-go-round serves only to ensure that the same clubs monopolise (sp) honours. Why don't we just have a league with Real, Barca, Utd, Citeh etc competeing and turn all the other clubs into training grounds?

Am I being unreallistic and naive with these opinions?

Would RVP be more likely to win trophies playing up front for Barcelona? Probably.

Would that get him a statue? Doubt it. hehe

I know what you are saying essex and it is not fair but money talks at the end of the day and some people are shallow. If I was a footballer I would select a team on more important factors. At the end of the day, when you are playing in the top flight, financially you are set for life no matter who you play for.

Anyway, Arsenal are the 4th most valuable club in the world apparently and I think we will be fighting for big trophies next season so the players have no real reason to move on if they are getting trophy hungry. As us Gooner like to say: Next year smile

Thats my point, would you rather play for Rent-a-Trophy FC where they would win the League/CL with or without you or be part of a side where you were an essential player in an un-fancied team? Still gonna be on fortunes but surely it would be far sweeter.

The second one. I can see it from the players point of view though. For example. if RVP was playing for Stoke would you expect him to stay? Is that a good career move when bigger clubs are after you? The team will need to be competitive. Then again the only way for a club to be competitive is to keep hold of the best players so it is all getting a little bit chicken and egg in here hehe

edit: It will be interesting to see what happens at Newcastle over the summer.

It's a familiar tale hearing that about Arsenal players but how many players have left Arsenal and won a lot of trophies ?

Cole and Fabregas (although he hasn't won many yet he will win plenty). The list that have fked their careers up by leaving is a lot,lot longer.....Hleb, Adebayor, Anelka being three prime examples.

As far as Modric is concerned....he's a good player but he's not a £40mil player. He doesn't do enough damage in the final third to command that money ....he's a long was from irreplaceable at that price.

In the last two season Modric has scored eight goals and has seven assists for Spurs......Alez Song in the same period has six goals and fourteen assists and he obviously plays much deeper. If Arsenal were bid £40mil for Song Wenger wouldn't blink.

Hmmm. You can prove anything with stats. Footballers aren't islands. Except for Pienar at Spurs, he never seemed to move much. Modric has Struggled when 'Arry has shifted the team about and when the back four have been rubbish -0 which is a lot. His distribution is killer & his awareness is right up there. I keep hearing he's Manyoo's #1 summer target & I can see why.

Nah, not at all. Sadly it just seems to come with (relative) success.

Scarily i seem to be agreeing with a lot you are typing these days. I must go lie down in a darkened room for a bit. rofl
