I'm not convinced we'll be buying another striker now, not with Ings and Firminos coming in, and Mario likely to stay.
I've been thinking the same thing. I think Firmino is being brought in as the official Suarez replacement, albeit a whole year late. Based on what Mario's agent said, he isn't going nowhere, which if true we have our contingent of 4 strikers, even without Borini and Lambert.

But then in football, who knows? If one could acquire say Bacca for £20m and let go of Mario for say £12m... would that be good business?

Agree with much of this.

I don't think we'll use Mario next year, especially if we bring in someone like Bacca. If we've told him he's surplus to requirements then he's the next Borini. Just think of the season just gone, we hardly played Mario even when we badly needed a striker, opting instead to use Sterling!!

No, we're going to have Ings, Sturridge (poss), Origi, Firmino, maybe even Ibe will develop into a makeshift forward/striker. Even Mario has been told he is surplus to requirements then that is his LFC career over.

Some fabulous goals in that clip.

The more I see of him, the more I don't see a Sterling replacement or a Coutinho replica... he needs to play off Sturridge (or another mobile striker).

Just remember you're watching highlights. The number of goals he gets has been similar to Sterling, who we've all discussed as being relatively useless in front of the net. Not saying he won't improve, just to be realistic when watching the highlights of a new signing.

After snaring Firmino, Liverpool have renewed their attempt to sign Clyne. An improved offer (£10.5m rising to £12.5m) has gone in.

Spoilsport hehe

Seriously though, it's more about the movement and enthusiasm he seems to play with, and the volley was pretty cool.

I suspect Firmino isn't being brought in for his goals record, more the chances he creates. Which is why we're still being linked as looking at strikers. Doesn't mean he won't develop that side of his game though.

Its slightly ironic that people are questioning where Firmino will play and what he'll bring to the team, when for the last 10mths people have been moaning that we didn't sign Sanchez - a very similar player with very similar stats.

All over Twitter. Sky suspended bets etc.
Jay_78_ tweeted too he usually knows some info.

Prolific goalscorer needed and I'll be made up that FSG have done everything they can to try and have the club competing for top 4.

Still have to appoint some staff alongside Rodgers. Be amazing if we got someone with achievements in who can really make us push on.

If they had done "All they could" they would have replaced Rodgers not just the backroom boys.

Klopp and Ancelotti weren't available.
I lost faith in Rodgers the end of last season. Will still support the team this year though aslong as they play for the shirt.
Can't do much if you dislike a manager and the owners don't want to sack him yet.

I know Ancelotti is for health reasons, but surely if Liverpool came knocking Klopp would reconsider his holidays, perhaps they did we may never know.

Do we think if we get off to a rocky start with our difficult fixtures it will be goodbye Brendan?

I think he'll get to Christmas. But if there's not a significant improvement over last season, he'll be gone.

But if we lose to Stoke 6-1 again, he might not see the end of the 1st week.

+ Get rid of the remaining deadwood
+ Hope that Rodgers has analysed his decision making during the last TWO seasons, improves his in-play tactics and decisions.

The last point is critical in how we perform. You can have the tools but you need to know how to use them.

Glad its not just me who has said/thought "they paid how much for who?"

I'm not the most up to date about world class Brazilian stars that play for lesser German teams... but I hadn't heard of him before last week.

Sure it will work out well, but I'm concerned that he's been signed for several days now already as a livepool player, yet hasn't earned some kind of scouser nick name....
