Or perhaps José is giving the league his full focus but his best isn't special anymore?

You just can't play Carroll and Fellani in midfield together. It's a race to see who is slowest.
Carroll ?

Interesting, Carrick though is pretty decent as CDM.

And 1 is more than enough.

The Theatre of Draws.

You'd have won that game if Howard Webb was still playing.

Unluckiest team in Manchester. Even if Ibrahimovic wasn't offside, the lino sees him and automatically thinks he is offside again.

It might be a bit of a cliche, but yes unlucky. Denied a good goal, hit woodwork twice, two great saves from Robles (who was shocking in their last game by all accounts) and their goal was fortunate to go through de gea's legs with what was a speculative poke at best from Jagielka.

BUT

We just aren't good enough. One goal set back shouldn't be enough - we still look to really struggle to score. The woodwork issue is as much poor finishing as luck, in fairness, and some of the build up is criminally slow / bad.

We started with the wrong team - too many on the pitch just aren't at the required level. Squad players for sure, but not enough against an Everton team that played very well.

On the bright side Shaw's kick up the bum might have helped, he did more in that 30 minutes than our other LB's have in several games. Bailly I thought was superb too. Full marks to Ibra for the penalty - a lot of pressure on it.

The offside, well it was very tight. Some you get, some you don't, but with our luck right now ...rolleyes

With the amount you're spending on your manager and players luck can't be an excuse over 29 games.

Hope I'm wrong but it may be that Mourinho has indeed lost his touch, can't see much, if any progression. Conte is doing his thing at Chelsea, Klopp and Potechtino are doing wonderful and you can see the progress with Pep. The amount of money we've spent, its not good enough.

But it's not 29 games we've been unlucky in, only several. It's still enough to make a difference in points but I'll agree it's by no way the biggest problem.

The progression under Maureen is obvious compared to last season, not sure how it can't be seen. Yes there has been a regression in the last month or so - could be number of games, players hitting bad form, injuries, who knows what. It was never going to be that we suddenly were all ok again just by bringing in JM and splashing the cash in one window - it's a bigger job than that. Judge him at the end of next season.

Is it as good as we hoped? No, is it as bad as it was? No. Are there obvious areas to address and fix? Yes. If he fails to address them in the summer, and we have the same issues next year, then it's fair to criticise.

Without a shadow of doubt, we miss Mata massively. He's able to find that pass and space that no other player can, which we are desperately missing. We looked excellent at the back again and Lukaku was useless against Rojo and Bailley! Lingard was energetic but I would have preferred Rashford on the right and Martial on the left.

I agree, just feel as though we have come off the boil since the league Cup win.

100%. Probably a bit before then. I think he's starting with the wrong team, which sets the tone and we are then having to chase the game. He also got quite negative in some recent games, following a goal from us. That also stops the flow of creativity and confidence.

Love Jose and think he has brought a big improvement to the side especially looking back at Moyes and LVG.

One thing I have struggled with at times is his team selection. I'm sure with Chelsea he put out the same side week in week out and very rarely changed it. It seems he changes the side every week and apart from Ibra or Pogba no one is gurranteed a spot.

Can't be good for cohesion chopping and changing all the time. I know Jose wants 2 players for each position rather than the several jack of all trade players LVG purchased

A draw that felt like a win, at least from my seat in the family stand. My 7 year old (and I) went mental when the penalty went in. Was emotional...

This PL seasons a write off. If we can't win it it matters not to me where we finish. We have a chance of the Europa and an automatic ECL place next season.

We see where we are at the season end, strengthen and go again next. Pleased for Shaw getting a cameo whether he's done enough who knows. He looked nervous as st when he came on. Won't do him any harm that's for sure. But for Williams cheating he might have got us the equaliser.

A poor performance but also unlucky not to win. We struggle against very defensive sides and Everton defended well.

No real quality in the final third in terms of build up play.
