Sacking CH does strike me as massively ungrateful of the Brighton board.

What more can they expect than keeping a small, poorly resourced club in the Premier League?
A somewhat less scary ride, with a little more verve and panache?

Good point, but I'd suggest that finishing 17th in the EPL is actually over-performing.

Like most, I was shocked by the news but... I heard BHA have clocked up 1 win in 23. That is an alarming turn in fortune, and clearly one CH wasn't able to turn around.

Edited - I've checked their 2019 results. Not as alarming as the stat above...

How do you define what is overachieving and what is underachieving?

Last season finished 15th with plenty of games to spare. Added more players (spend loads of money in other words) over summer so should expect to do as well if not better. But they barely scraped 17th (playing rubbish since Xmas). I think we know what would happen next season if little changed...

I liked Hughton but maybe he has a limit....

The championship and League 1 is littered with ex Prem clubs who sacked their manager because "he's taken us as far as he can".

Tony Pulis & Stoke spring to mind.

Wise words. Sometimes you just have to know your place (says the Alex fan)

Pleased with prompt recruitment and clearly Dan Ashworth had input here and would have been following young English managers when working for the FA, so hopefully a shrewd acquisition.

Onwards and upwards!!

You boys watching us tonight?

I trust you anticipate Sunday with much trepidation.

Not always a bad thing as means our players will be more rested/fit than a team only having played a few days ago.

Hard to predict this one, obv we're above Utd in the table and playing well but there is some quality in the Utd squad (so there should be, just compare squad costs between clubs!!!).

If Utd play well, they "should" win however if not firing on all cylinders (which I hope and clearly the pattern so far this season biggrin) then Brighton are playing in a way/form to punish them.

Up the Albion! Let's win an get into top 6 winkbiggrin

You've had 4 yellow cards in the 1st half.

Should not be too concerned with a spanking at Old Trafford. Far superior teams than Brighton will come here and get well and truly battered.

Great result tonight. Potterball coming along nicely.
Over 50% possession AT Arsenal, famous for their possession game. Twice as many shots, should have been 3. biggrin

Watched at home and after bossing the first half, I thought we were going to get beat when Arsenal started the second half so well.

But, we stuck with it and another inspired substitution from GP worked wonders!

Who'd a thought? - an away win at Arsenal!

Six months since last post here and ironic, looking at the post above, that it's after beating Arsenal for the second time this season.

The main reason for this post is to comment on what a great debut Tariq Lamptey had for us against Leicester yesterday evening. Boy, is that lad quick. Even made Jamie Vardy look pedestrian on a couple of occasions.

Four points from the first two games after the re-start and other teams' results going the right way, have certainly made survival look more do-able.
