Nothing wrong with letting the league SLIP away.

I really enjoyed that, great game. The presentation was something else. What an incredible, prestigious competition this is.
You did make me chuckle Cie with this and a bit of banter is never a bad thing. smile

Great to have the WUMs out. It's like being called ugly by a ginger child.
I guess you didn't read the Spuddy thread on Sunday ?

What goes round comes round.

Nothing personal but if you give it you have to be able to take it.

Well that didn't go according to plan hehe

Strange game. Now we know what its like to be on the end of a stirring comeback eh. Credit to Sevilla, totally different side second half. And so were we, disappointing.

Nope didn't read it, didn't give it and I'm really not that precious.

Like I said, it's amusing to have you WUMs come on here and take the piss out of our lack of success - you've had 50 years of winning fk all so I feel like were amongst friends who understand our pain smile

I am disappointed that you lost as another champions league place would help the England co-efficient, it would give a few English players the chance to play quality players regularly and perhaps show them how good they need to be for the global tournaments and it would also give clubs like mine more chance in the league next year as you'll be tired from the mid-week games.

You did not deserve the win but hopefully we'll see an English club win it next season

Joking aside, These Spanish teams just seem to have that extra something that we sadly lack.

I really couldn't see anything but a Liverpool win after 45mins but this mediocre placed Spanish team just seemed to change into a higher gear that Liverpool had no answer too.

We may well have the most exciting league in the world but we certainly do not have the best footballing league in the world.

A mental fortitude and ability to concentrate for 95 minutes

First of all, I think progress is being made under Klopp – but that 2nd half last night was a setback. It was like watching the Rogers era team, especially the semi-final v Villa; were they just weren’t at the races. That suggests there are still too many weak characters in the squad.

Getting beat in a Euro final can happen, but is easier to take when you’ve been beaten by a Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, etc
Sevilla are a handy, useful but distinctly average team – however, they were made to look like world beaters in the 2nd half – and that’s what disappoints me.

Crikey you chaps have delusions of grandeur That's the third time in a row they've won the competition and they finished a place higher in La Liga than Liverpool did in the EPL.

TBH I didnt expect us to win but I did think the mistakes of the City final and (under Rogers) the Villa semi would have been worked on. But no, with 44 minutes to go we had no plan B that either the players could implement or the management could figure out.
We struggle to get "up" for some big games but not all (Dortmund we were higher than high) and the fans dont deserve that.
Jurgens biggest issue is that we are consistently inconsistent.
Next season we need at the very least a keeper, LB, striker and a leader!

On some regards I would agree and on others I would say not. To get to a European final is by the very measure above average. part of the very best? No.above average? Yep.

Oddly the first half should have been more difficult as they played over the press. The second half they played on the deck so our game plan should have been plan A.

Their first goal changed everything. It was as if they'd gone in at half time celebrating and thinking they'd already won it.

Conceded from the kick-off and never recovered. No idea why. The Dortmund challenge was much harder and they just dug in until the 95th minute.

I can only think they thought they had it in the bag.

Fulham & Middlesbrough got to European finals with distinctly average teams.

In fact Middlesbrough probably gave Sevilla a tougher test that year than we did, that's unacceptable.

Feels like we used up all our luck in Istanbul, we've lost a final in every major competition since that night

I don't think the players thought they had it in the bag. It's happened in a lot of games this season. Will do fantastic one game, the next people just don't turn up. I don't think it was much to do with the game in itself, just that's what this group of players have kept doing. They didn't even bother when it was clear we didn't have it in the bag after their goals.

What does Moreno do different in training, compared to matchday?

I'd be interested in views from match goers, I have never seen him be anything other than a loose cannon. He is no more a defender than Sturridge is a goalkeeper IMO.

When someone is that awful, it must spread uncertainty across the whole defensive line, hell, the whole team I reckon.

Is he a Scapegoat? For once I don't think so.
