I can't believe it, Championship football next season for the first time since 1987. The matches vs QPR will be good with Arry managing them - wonder if we'll now get a proper fourth side to the stadium!
To all those supporting clubs who are financial trouble, keep the faith, we were hours from going out of business, nearly wen out of the Football League, but with good management and a bit of welcome investment we'll be getting thrashed by the bigger boys next season. Amazing to think in November I was contemplating L2 when we were in the relegation zone.
Hope Donny take the winner takes all game next week, they've been in the promotion places for ages.

Another win for us today, automatic is impossible after Bournemouth's win. With Brentford v Doncaster next week, three points against Bury would put us in the driving seat for third place if Donny beat the Bees. Sheff U's defeat today helped us immensely especially with the subsequent swing in goal difference.
Was shocked to see just how far Tranmere have sunk. They were top in January or February, now if they lose next weekend and two other results go against them, they'll be bottom half. That takes some doing, it really does.

The mighty Vale continue to give League 2 what-for. Great January signings and everything looking peachy.
...any Vale fans amongst us know what this means...

Your admitting on a public forum to being a Vale fan!!
Brave brave man...
Sayonara League 2. It's been (very) emotional.
If so congratulations!!
Still a long way away from the local derby
So from the very highest scorers in british football (Vale) to the very lowest (Stoke), be slightly cautious in your gloating. Momentum counts for an awful lot, and you've spent £50m this year to score fewer goals collectively than we've paid £80k for from Tom Pope.
Stoke are, PL status aside, in a very bad way. I'd seriously fancy our chances in a cup tie vs. Stoke at the moment.

Would love it if Yeovil won the play offs, all the very best of luck for them.

Although I despise Gary Johnson, I've got to agree with that. One of the few clubs I don't mind in this league and it's great to see a fellow small club competing without overspending. You were very impressive against Stevenage last week. 11 players willing to put everything on the line for each other - very similar to the squad that took us to where we are now and hopefully Westley can recreate that over the summer.Would love it if Yeovil won the play offs, all the very best of luck for them.

I'm not. We had one of the smallest squads in the league and were in a false position for most the season. In December our captain got injured for what we though was a short time. He ended up being out for the rest of the season and was never replaced. We also lost our top scorer (to scorer in the league at the time) in January. We had him on loan from wolves. We had an agreement the in January if we wanted to renew the loan then we could. However, Dean Saunders took charge if Wolves in January. He brought Cassidy back to assess him, then decided he couldn't come back to us, yet didn't play him (wolves even loaned in a striker and left him out the squad).
Take the main striker out of any team and watch them drop
Our shortfall was not replacing our 2 most important players in January. The players we could afford, just turned out to be crap.
Massive day for a lot of clubs today, good luck to anyone else either fighting relegation or trying to get that extra point or two to go up.
We've got Bury away today and we're in a strange position. Although we've never been relegated for almost twenty years, we've had a few close shaves but today we sit in fourth place. Brentford play Donny in the big game of the day; if Donny win then we could overtake the Bees and grab third place in the table with three points at Gigg Lane. If Brentford win, fourth will be the best we can get but still means a second leg at home.
Opponents look likely to be either Swindon, Sheffield United or Brentford although if we lost and Donny lost too, we could play them. That would be a strange scenario given that ten years go this weekend, we left non-league football for League Two to be joined by Donny through the playoffs.
Still, onwards and upwards and good wishes to all of those travelling to watch their team today. I understand Plymouth are taking sixteen coachloads of supporters to Rochdale and although I have no real preference at the bottom of L2, have friends who are Janners so would be nice to see them happy.
Football, eh? Don't you just love it?

Wow, what a day.
Lost 3-2 at Bury so finished fourth, three down after half an hour.... but recovered somewhat. Now face Sheffield United next Friday and on Monday week for a place at Wembley.
Have to feel for Brentford fans though. Last minute penalty to win promotion, miss it and Donny go up the other end and score to win promotion and the title! That's why we love and hate football so much.

Just checked the league 1 results..
Colchester,my team,needed 1 point for safety.
Shorpe needed us to lose ,them to win and overturn 3 goal difference.
Colchester win ....LUCKILY.
I switch off "Final score" before the end.
Shorpe equalise against Swindon in 87th min...then score at 90+5 ...AND 90+7 .
You can't deny they gave it a go...

That was the situation we found ourselves in. Sadly we only really put in an attempt to win the home leg and ended up going out to an 88th minute United goal. you've earned the right to host the second leg though which is what the difference was between us and United last year. Although I despise Gary Johnson (just for how he was in a game against Northampton a couple years ago), good luck! It is great to see the smaller clubs competing and spending within their means.Just the matter of a small trip to Sheffield stands in our way.....David v Goliath springs to mind

I was there......... still shake my head in disbelief 3 days on when thinking about it.I had a feeling it was going to go 'orribly wrong when the players were having a 'conversation' about who should be taking it (and as it later transpired, it was not the pre-match penatly taker nominated by the manager )

Must have been awful for you. Hoping for a Brentford Yeovil playoff final.I had a feeling it was going to go 'orribly wrong when the players were having a 'conversation' about who should be taking it (and as it later transpired, it was not the pre-match penatly taker nominated by the manager )
Was gutted with how it turned out on Saturday, so near but yet so far from the title. Oh well, nothing really lost as we are still going up. Finally going to get a fourth stand at the south end of the ground, we'll need it to boost the attendances as 6000-7000 doesn't really cut it in the Championship.
Should be a fantastic experience for us, though In my heart of hearts I think we'll come straight back down. We have the quality to compete for a one-off game, but I'm not so sure week in, week out. I doubt many are looking forward to the visits of Leeds and Millwall, both of which have caused problems in the town in the past and will be interesting to play both Burnley and QPR given managerial histories.

My dear old Dad would have been distraught though, had he been there, he'd been a lifelong Brentford fan from first going there as a lad in the '38/39 season up until he died in 2002.
