Thankfully, no. We'll see the 451/433 and 442 Diamond he's used in the past.

I can see Andy Carroll playing up front and lots of long balls aimed towards his head.

Great stuff.

Only if Benson & Hedges are available.
hehe That's a massively underrated film. It's portrayal of the FA is just superb.

I too don't get the Hoddle love in.
Hoddle had a 60% win rate as manager of England, that has only been bettered by Alf Ramsey.

OK he said something stupid some years ago. Does he have to carry that to his grave?

Anyway it looks like big Sam will get the job.

His pure stats are no better than Sven's when you actually look at them, and at least he got us to 3 quarter finals. Hoddle's only achievement in tournament football was a second round knockout at France 98 after finishing as runner up to Romania in arguably the easiest group.

Utterly out of touch and still bonkers, he'd be a really bad choice IMHO.

He has never retracted it. He has apologised for the upset caused but never for the views expressed. He wasn't misquoted or quoted out of context. He believed was he said was true then and he still believes it today.

And, not only did he say something stupid, but he did something stupid, the whole Eileen Drury debacle. Something else that he still believes.

Whether he carries it to his grave is entirely up to him. How long is he going to continue to believe utter fking nonsense?

If I'm not in just stick a note under the door.

There's one from Ron Greenwood here!

It's funny because it's (believably) true...

I had forgotten about Eileen Drewry, she was a fruitcake IMO. Hoddle's record as a football manager is still very good tho.

What we need is more foreign players in the PL. Should bring the skills of the home-frown boys right up. You learn a lot on the bench rolleyes

Foreign players aren't the cause of our demise, they are a symptom of it.

Yes because the England team were world beaters pre 1992, then Carlos Kickaball turned up to ruin it

Were Wales not higher than 11th at one point, or have I mis remembered??

The rankings are a waste of time as they take into account friendlies which we all know no-one really cares about. Im unsure if they are weighted to tournaments though as although we are brilliant at qualifying we suck in tournaments.

It really isn't.

At club level his average win ratio is below 40%, so barely better than 1 in 3.

For England he has the same points per game total as Sven (2.04) and worse than both Hodgson (2.07) and Capello (2.19). Win percentage at international level means nothing if it's predominantly friendlies against ste opposition.

We got knocked out in the 2nd round of the only major tournament he went to (France 98) after losing the group to Romania.

Serious case of rose tinted glasses going on.

Indeed. And on top of which, it was all over a decade ago, and he's got no track record/anything on his CV since then, so waaaaaaaay out of touch, even without the 'other' issue.

I didn't know Glen Hoddle had a Victoria Cross. What did he get that for? laugh

I've been giving this manager thing some thought
and he is a possible serious contender and to me one of the funniest but best applicants.
