laugh

Just goes to show - pre season is all about getting fitness and sharpness and nothing more. It was nice to see some great performances yesterday but Barcelona in a proper match would be a totally different kettle of fish, as we all know. Apparently Mainz thrashed us in pre season in the Rafa era too - they must love playing us for their confidence. smile

Do we have any major injury worries ahead of the game on Sunday apart from Karius?

According to Physio room;

Grujic and Lovren should be ok for Sunday,
Sturridge, Milner, Karius, Lucas, Sakho and Gomez all still injured.

We have something like 8 first team injuries, more than any other Premier Leagure team iirc.

From what I've read/heard, these are pretty certain not to feature and injured for some time:

Karius, Leiva, Sakho, Joe Gomez, Ojo.

Then in the order of the most likely to be fit for Sundays game:

Grujic, Milner, Sturridge.

For those of us who can't get to games, I wonder how easy it is to stream Sky Sports Germany's broadcasts?! They've done a deal with "England's biggest club" hehe

I'm worried about UTD this season I think they have bought reasonably well and big names will galvanise their whole squad. I think we are going to end up with a negative net spend which I dont think we should be accepting.

Utd as always will be there abouts. A lot will depend on Zlatan. He could be brilliant or a flop. I personally wouldn't get hung up about a negative spend. If we have bought who the manager wanted to buy whats the issue? Better than paying £93mil for a decent player or £47.5mil for a relatively unproven player.

We will do as well as we do. I dont worry about any other team, Utd will win the league though this season.

United will buy the league this season.

And that's not a comment due to jealousy, I just find this aspect of the game obscene and demoralising.

You lot giving Utd the title already without a ball being kicked - ffs! If I had said this time last year Leicester would win the Prem, I'd have been certified ... you never know what might happen. Lot of big egos at that club all of a sudden ... the biggest one being the manager ... gonna be more than interesting ...

Just like Man City and Chelsea before them. Leicester were an aberration that won't happen again for another 50 years.

I do sometimes wonder what the league would be like with a cap on the 'maximum expenditure on players per season for every club' and set at a level that every club in the Prem could afford. Say £40m to £50m what with the TV revenue and all.

st, so no ones allowed to predict anymore?
I'd say building a team like that with him in charge gives them pretty good odds, nothing wrong with saying that is there?

One thing for sure, it is going to be a very interesting season indeed, possibly one of the best ever. The caliber of managers, the current player recruitment, the amount of money available even to previously mid-table teams, it is going to be exciting for sure.

I'm not a betting man but if I was I'd be fked as to who my money was going on. The whole Pep and City thing is kinda flying under the radar as well at the moment

Mourinho and Man Utd are the sort of horrible partnership destined to ruin my footballing life for a few years.

Utd have spent enormous sums - mostly on bringing back a player they sold as being unsuited to the Prem a few years back for a relative pittance. Mourinho seems to want to spend wherever he goes. If it goes wrong, the wheels will quickly fall off - look how quickly the Chelsea players stopped playing for him last year. I can't see how Ibrahimovic will be a big hit, given his age. He's here for a British glamour club to add to his collection, and a big pay day. If he'd been truly ambitious he would have come a few years ago. If he scores 20 goals or even starts more than 25 Prem games I'd be surprised.

Should be a good season this year - Utd, Chelsea, Citeh, Arsenal, us, Leicester. Oh yes, and probably Spurs - all fighting for top 4. All with decent managers (ok, maybe Wenger is a bit past his best now).
