Utd have spent enormous sums - mostly on bringing back a player they sold as being unsuited to the Prem a few years back for a relative pittance. Mourinho seems to want to spend wherever he goes. If it goes wrong, the wheels will quickly fall off - look how quickly the Chelsea players stopped playing for him last year. I can't see how Ibrahimovic will be a big hit, given his age. He's here for a British glamour club to add to his collection, and a big pay day. If he'd been truly ambitious he would have come a few years ago. If he scores 20 goals or even starts more than 25 Prem games I'd be surprised.
Should be a good season this year - Utd, Chelsea, Citeh, Arsenal, us, Leicester. Oh yes, and probably Spurs - all fighting for top 4. All with decent managers (ok, maybe Wenger is a bit past his best now).
One thing is for sure , Jose crumbled due to player power at Chelsea , Fingers crossed the United players will do the same.Should be a good season this year - Utd, Chelsea, Citeh, Arsenal, us, Leicester. At least they know he can be toppled.
I agree with those who have doubts about Utd this season. Jose hasn't been the best of managers at his time at Real and the second stint at Chelsea. The Utd squad has massive egos in Ibra, Rooney, Pogba and Depay. How is Rashford going to feel not playing for a couple of seasons - another player Utd will have to buy back for £100m in 5 years?! They've also still not sorted out their defence. They best hope they string some results together early on, because Jose has shown he finds it hard to turn things around once the confidence is lost.
Chelsea I think will be a hard team to beat, but I also think they'll struggle to beat certain teams unless Hazard decides he wants to play again. I can see them being similar to LVG's Utd - disciplined, organised, but not massively adventurous going forward.
I think City will be the strongest contender for the title - I have much more faith in Pep's golden touch than I do Jose's. They've got a great squad still and I doubt they're finished in the transfer window yet either.

You lot giving Utd the title already without a ball being kicked - ffs! If I had said this time last year Leicester would win the Prem, I'd have been certified ... you never know what might happen. Lot of big egos at that club all of a sudden ... the biggest one being the manager ... gonna be more than interesting ...
st, so no ones allowed to predict anymore?I'd say building a team like that with him in charge gives them pretty good odds, nothing wrong with saying that is there?
I just hope teams don't start playing Utd again as though they've lost before the bladdy game starts ...
Mourinho has a history of spending pots of money that others don't have - he started it all off with Chelsea when Abramovich brought him in. Most things he says are designed to get a reaction, so I just take him with a pinch of salt.
The only thing I would say is he will give his all with Utd - his ego took a hell of a beating last year and he will want to show how good he is once again.

Have to agree, and in many ways it works. Speak a lot of crap and remove focus/ take the pressure off the players. It's very much deliberate. That said, seems like his ego may be causing issues more recently as shown by the lack of performance by players at Chelsea.Flip Martian said:

I would have thought the same about when he went to Chelsea the second time. At Real he had a tumultuous tenure at best, he won one title but failed to reach the CL final and suffered a couple of embarrassing defeats in domestic cups. Several players, the press and a large portion of the fans hated him - I would have thought he'd have turned up to Chelsea with a point to prove...Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
