You may well be right! The deal isn't as comprehensive as the Nike deal leaving still more avenues for United to exploit! Amazing bit of business.

A guy called Andy Green (andersred on Twitter) has been talking about the deal and the debt

Previously before we paid off a big chunk the debt would swallow 70% of our yearly profits

It currently swallows appx 15% (circa 20m)

I assume this is the interest payments

With the new deal from Adidas he says the debt issue has all but gone

Indeed so. Wondering how much more (if anything) is left in Adidas' kitty for other shirt sponsorship deals - or have we just taken most of it off the table?

Apparently the £75m is less than 5% of Adidas overall football apparel business which is £2.7bn a year so they have a little spare cash. However is is only for the football and training kit. Meaning we can partner with someone else for the leisure wear side of things. Head guy at Adidas expects £1.5bn in revenue over the course of the deal.

Yeah, but they will have the premier League Champions on their sleeve.

When did football go so stale that we all get so excited about the financial side? Seriously?

Out of interest now, how do UTD fans now look at the Glaziers, outside looking in seems they are good business men who have now got your club worth a hell of a lot more than it was when they took over??
Will green and yellow shirts still be worn etc?

The same way I always have. I don't like them owning the club, but can't fault their business acumen.

True, but there are all those players that have impressed on the international stage that could be being snapped up.

I'm concerned that Cie will drown in an adolescent outpouring of semen if Vidal joins though, perhaps the kit deal is a good stepping stone to curtail his excitement.

I think its exciting purely as after last season its a kick in the teeth for all those who'd assumed we were likely to be the next Liverpool, it also means that the shackles will likely be off with regard to transfers which is also nice. It does help that we will have ZERO issues with FFP biggrin

Too dim to understand what it means about the club's long term future & our ability to buy players and compete?

Not everything they've touched has turned to gold of course, but they couldn't really fail with United, could they? If they sold the club for what £1.5bn, they'll have personally made c.£1bn profit or so on their investment over their ownership. Clearly the club was ripe for an improvement in commercial relationships that the Glazers have exploited to the fullest. Whilst I don't particularly like/dislike them I can't say that I'm unhappy that they're in charge as they've kept out of the footballing side of things in the main and realise that the club needs that investment in the football team now that SAF's genius management is no longer.

looks like interest on loans is some £20m per year now, which in the grand scheme of things is easily serviceable. Cute.

yes

If we weren't to reduce the debt anymore we could pay that and still have 55m a year for transfer solely from the kit deal
