Given the opposition I'd say that was our best performance of the season so far. Ipswich are joint top scorers with Leicester but apparently their expected goals today was the same as they ended-up with - nil! I thought they'd give us a few problems but in truth we outplayed them in pretty much every department and if we could perform like that every week I don't think we'd drop too many points.
But maybe we played at the level we did because their style suited us? Ipswich do try to play an expansive game and generally we seem to perform better against teams who come out and play that way....

Merry Christmas!
Yet again, I really wasn't expecting that. 2-1 maybe, with a following wind and a bit of luck. A "6 pointer" and a relative goal difference of +8. Oh yes please! Frustrating that they didn't do this in the previous 2 matches, but having 3 Leeds players capable of scoring feels so much better than a few months ago.

I went to the game (stood in the Ipswich end as my GF works for the club), atmosphere was great!
I was speaking to Leif Davis before the game at the hotel the night before (really nice fella, I tried convicing him to come back), he said he wasn't feeling 100%, which was reflected in his performance bless him

Thought we were as disappointing today as we were impressive on Saturday. A silly sending off for Meslier obviously didn't help but even when we had 11 on the pitch we didn't seem to be able to get it together and perhaps for the first time this season I thought Archie Gray appeared to struggle a bit at right back; he had trouble containing Millar all afternoon and ultimately that's where their winning goal came from. Prior to today they'd been on a poor run at home so you could almost predict it would come to an end against us and sure enough it did!
I still think when we play well we're probably one of the best teams in the division but unlike some of the others - and especially Leicester - we lack consistency and don't seem quite as able to grind out wins when we're not at our best. Still a long way to go - and top two is still achievable - but Southampton have now sneaked past us into third and I do think our most likely destination is the play-offs....

Another disappointing result tonight and that impressive performance against Ipswich is suddenly feeling like a very distant memory. I reckon Southampton are now favourites to take second spot behind Leicester and we'll most likely finish in the play-offs; if we continue to win only one game in five we might even struggle to do that but hopefully we're just in a temporary blip the moment....
A relief to get back to winning ways and a bonus was both Ipswich and Southampton dropped points this afternoon. Especially nice to see Bamford back on the scoresheet, hopefully that will do his confidence a bit of good!
However, not easy to gauge our overall performance level given Birmingham were so poor - their decision to replace Eustace with Rooney looks worse with every game and playing like that I don't see the latter being in the job for much longer.

On one hand, it is nice to see 3 different goal scorers. On the other... I would almost have wished Bamford hadn't scored. I can't see him being anything other than dead weight in matches against serious opposition and would rather other players had their chance instead. Still, a +3 goal difference isn't to be sneezed at.
After recent failures, 7 points behind feels pretty okay at the moment.

Sounds like we've exercised an option to terminate Spence's loan agreement and sent him back to Spurs? Have to say I didn't see that coming - for me he was probably the best of the full backs we had available and hence on the face of it this weakens our squad. It will be interesting to hear what Farke has to say about it all in his next press conference (which I think is tomorrow?).

Yep, odd decision that one and leaves us short once more in a position we were already short in.
Lots of comments on social media to the effect he had a poor attitude and wasn't really gelling as part of the squad. No idea if that's true or not but it would seem a plausible explanation - doubt Farke would tolerate anyone with an over-inflated opinion of himself....JNW1 said:

As much as I don't like Warnock, his comment on Spence is absolutely correct. He stated when he was at Middlesborough that the lad had all the physical qualities to play at the top in the Premier League but the attitude of someone who wanted to play Non-League Football and that within 5 years that will be where he ends up.
Pretty accurate for me.
That seems to be the way. He posted something when Forest got promoted saying something along the lines of not caring about his attitude and since then has played 30 minutes for Spurs and 4/5 games for Leeds in 18 months. Pretty accurate for me.
