Yes and on the face of it a winnable one as well!

Mind you, to be honest I'm not too bothered about the FA Cup; to be realistic we're very unlikely to win the competition so to me the extra games are just a distraction which provide the potential to pick up more injuries and/or suspensions. In many ways I feel bad saying that given the tradition surrounding the FA Cup but for us I just think the priority this season has got to be to try to regain our Premier League status.

that was better, although the penalty was not... must try harder.

Yes, we're not great with penalties are we? But overall I thought yesterday was a very solid performance at a place where we've often struggled to get a result in the past - we should have scored more but I'm certainly not complaining with a 3-0 win away from home, especially after the mediocre efforts at places like Preston and WBA recently!

A pretty poor game this afternoon - probably influenced by the weather - but a good result! As on Boxing Day they'd obviously decided to adopt a physical approach and it nearly worked for them again; however, on balance I thought we deserved the three points and in the end felt justice was done.

Now need to back it up on Wednesday by beating a Norwich team which appears to have found a bit of form recently.

Absolutely we deserved the win! Well on top all second half and despite the ref doing his best to spoil it, we got the win. Not quite sure what was going through the ref's head - booking Rutter for being fouled, multiple shirt tugs in the box and nothing given, booking Firpo for a decent challenge and then not doing anything for that idiot smashing Archie into the advertising hoardings, only a yellow for that challenge on Gruev, goalkeeper handling outside the box etc. Just glad he got the penalty decision bang on...

Good result last night against a Norwich side that's been playing well recently; we had the chances to win by more but got the win which keeps the pressure on Ipswich and Southampton.

I still think with their consistency Southampton are most likely to take the second automatic promotion place (I think it's pretty much a given Leicester will take the first!) but the Saints have still got to come to ER and if we can stay within a couple of wins of them and Ipswich you never know what might happen over the last ten games. Still reckon the play-offs are our most likely destination though....

Didn't even get out of second gear last night and managed to hold them at arms length. They could have had a couple and we could have had a couple more. Thought our defense was pretty solid again last night although we seem to spend a lot of time playing with a back 2!

Well a replay with Plymouth wasn't really needed.

We should have had the game won by half-time but once again failed to take our chances with the result we've now landed ourselves with, as you say, an extra game we don't need (especially when to be realistic we're not going to win the competition!).

Good win tonight although how it was only 1-0 I really don't know; should have won by 3 or 4 with the chances we created and not being clinical in front of goal is becoming a slightly worrying habit. But first and foremost we needed the points tonight and we got them!

Averaging a nice even 2 points per game now. I know we are only second by deed of having played 2 more games, but I'd rather have the points in the bag, and it is good to see us up there! According to the Yorks Post, going into this game we were in front of our points count in the equivalent place during promotion year. Which is strange, because I'd have sworn we were way stronger then!

From the commentary, we should have had way more goals than we did, but at least our attack seems to have options now, and we actually seem to have a defence (mostly).

Not sure I follow:

In our last 6 games, we have scored 13 Goals, which is not exactly bad.

Yes, Summerville had a bad game by his standard and missed 3 and one or two crosses, but they were still very lucky in defence.

I would keep in mind the rest of the stats too:
Possession = 62%
Passes = 613
Pass accuracy = 84%

Don't get me wrong, I don't think we're playing badly - in point of fact generally I think we're playing pretty well - I just said not being clinical in front of goal is starting to become a slightly worrying habit.

And the reason I said that is in our last four games we've been the dominant team but have won three of them by only one goal - and one of those only with a penalty in stoppage time - and drawn the other. IMO we should have put all four of those matches to bed well before the final 20 minutes and in the case of a couple of them it should have been game over at halftime; however, not killing teams off cost us in the cup against Plymouth and my worry is something similar is going to start happening in league games as well (as it nearly did against Bristol City last night even though they barely got out of their own half for most of the game).

So my concern is our failure to convert chances could result in us throwing points away and that's something we can't afford to do if we want to chase down Ipswich and Southampton for that second automatic promotion spot.

Good result tonight in grim conditions on prime time telly no less! Should have finished it in the 2nd half though. Mixed feeling I'd rather we concentrate on promotion TBH but a decent cup run is good for morale I suppose

Good performance in awful conditions tonight; not sure how they managed to force it to extra time but we were easily the better team and got the job done in the end. Further progress in the competition will be difficult but it will give us an opportunity to see how we measure-up against PL opposition!
