Scholar / Maxwell ring any bells. You were 5 mins from bankruptcy before a billionaire bailed you out.
Yet more self justification, for scholar read bates rofl

They ran the club to the brink of bankruptcy. They didn't spend all their money making Tottenham Hotspurs the most expensive project in the history of sport completely incomparable.

That's what they were trying to do, but failed miserably. You seem to be boasting that your rich owners tilt at domination ended in disaster, whereas our rich owner got it right!!!

No we didn't have tilt at world domination our 'rich' owners tried to run the club into ruin like bates and Chelsea.

Scholar and Abromovich are completely incomparable and you know it, keep trying if you must though.

Undeniably.

Lets hope now the game can keep him rather than him ending up in a studio, as I said earlier in the thread he's a fantastic example to youngsters.

Nope, you're just plain wrong. They didn't start off with the intention of bankrupting the club. That was just the result of their uselessness. Scholar and co wanted to turn Spuds into a major force in European football (I know it sounds ridiculous but it's true) and the whole tie up with Hummel etc was part of that failed plan.

RA is indeed nothing like Scholar. He isn't an idiot for a start. You don't get to claim some moral high ground for having moronic owners. Much as you'd like to.

Its every single one you ever meet, they are the only fans that seem to have to qualify themselves, was it shakespear that said 'The lady doth protest too much, methinks'...?

As for Frank excellent player made the most of talent and then some, nowhere near as good as Gerrard or Scholes but then not many are. What he was is a fantastic example for kids, proving how far you can go with hard work and dedication.
This I agree with, fantastic professional footballer & certainly an excellent roll model for any youngster.

There are terrific stories about him working hard after training trying to become a better player .

Great career decent chap it seems, I just don't rate him as high as some I suppose.
Based on hard stats, fat Frank was better than Stevie G.

Lampard won more trophies and scored more goals.

Both outstanding players, and, above all, consistent.

Truth is all the top 6 (at least) have wealth behind them it's just fans get bhy when their opponents have either richer benefactors or benefactors more willing to part with their cash.

For Roman it's about entertainment and winning.

For the Glaziers it's about ROI.

For Spurs, who's main benefactor is quite wealthy, I don't know what the motivation is? Let's do the best we can provided it helps my tax situation?

Lampard was one of the very best midfielders I've ever seen. A wonderful footballer.

All anyone needs to know about your club's owner can be found on his wiki. Have a read TwigtheWonderkid, then come back here and defend him, will you?

Every single one of your trophies is tainted with blood.

Roffles won't cut it.

Beginning to think people are really underestimating Lampards natural ability, they make him out to seem like a lower prem player who trained harder than the rest. The assists record will teach you what you need to know about touch and vision, something that's regarded as "natural" ability!

Fair enough, I'm out too. Off to the Bridge to see if I can get all those blood stains off. Silver should clean up quite easily.

Making light of what he did doesn't mean he didn't do it. It just lessens you.

Yes, Lampard won roughly +20% more major trophies, scored roughly +10% more goals-per-game, got 1-place higher ranking in the ultimate Balloon d'Or award, and delivered roughly +10% more Prem assists than Gerrard during their careers.

By almost every objective measure, Lampard was better than Gerrard.

That means bugger all really Stevie G had to play alongside some very average players at Liverpool whereas Frank played with some of the most expensive players in the world at Chelsea.

If Steven Gerrard had played for Chelsea for the same period of time a Lampard did the records would have been pretty much the same.

I think it's generally accepted they Gerrard was the better player,

bad company
