Twice he flew into make a block only for the forward to dummy it. Lucky that Mbappe hit the bar with the second one yet he still managed to get up and completely miss the ball trying to clear it (for once).

Shouldn't be anywhere near our defence!

Just exactly what I was thinking while watching it. Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walker, Jones all playing out of position at times tonight.... have we really got to the stage where there is no international quality players in some positions?

All I'll give Southgate credit for (and I'm holding my breath on this one) is that he seems to have ended Rooney's international career, albeit that should have happened two or three years previously.

Apparently England are playing Malta tonight if anyone was interested.

Southgate has confirmed Joe Hart will play in both games as he is our best keeper??? So rather than play Jack Butland who is the best english keeper, he wants to play Hart who played in all 3 of WHU games, and already conceded 10 goals.

Got to love English Football.

Not sure I'd put Butland ahead of Pickford on current form, but, yes, Hart is 3rd choice at best, and quite why Southgate thinks he's our best keeper is bizarre, and tells us everything we need to know about the England team and selection process.

In his defence he produced one of the finest goalkeeping displays I have ever seen a few years back when city played Barca and he foiled messi in numerous 1v1 ones as messi tore city apart.
