Sorry guys, I’ve taken it easy on the negative posts of late but have to say that was absolutely diabolical. One of the worst performances this season.

31 shots conceded and 81 touches in our box (highest allowed by any team this season!) against a team with 2 wins in 18 and missing an entire back four.

So badly set up in midfield. Mainoo on his own and McT and Bruno instructed to completely vacate the middle. We’ve conceded 106 shots in 4 games, truly staggering.

One positive was Mount took his goal well, but hard to find anything else good to say about that.

Woohoo. A massive point gained away from home against one of the biggest teams in the PL. incredible resilience from probably the most impressive side in Manchester.

Amazing to see. And right back int ie fight for the title and CL. Only 4 more wins needed in the remaining 9 games this season to get there. Easy.

Woohoo. Family and kids and stuff were there. What a great day out loved it.

Well said. Laughing stock thread whether the team play dire like yesterday or beat Liverpool in a thriller.

I think we all agree with that summary.

No need to WUM on the United thread… your own ‘supporters’ can do it much better wink

Just pointing out how it was on here after we beat Brentford in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

This was my post after the Liverpool match, can’t see where I’m being negative, other than my reply to the dig at me.

Nice and personal again I see. I’m still here, just on holiday chilling. Watched the match and thought it was a cracker. Ecstatic about the result, plus the performance was a huge improvement on previous ones.

Pleased all round.

Happens against any team that is aggressive and up for it, second half at Newport comes to mind but you can pick any from at least a dozen games this season, completely bereft of any passion or fight. When the going gets tough we surrender.

The frustrating thing is we were flying into tackles and 50-50 balls in the cup quarter final so they can do it, just not for 2 games running, maybe we need to pay them time and a half as it was a bank holiday.

Yep,not sure what ETH is actually trying to do , is it this ditch arrogance of sticking with something that is clearly not working in the vain hope it may eventually .

I wonder if he fell in to the same trap some of us did - it worked (ish) against Liverpool, corner slightly turned etc. He was maybe also expecting the same kind of application to make up for the systemic shortcomings. He (like us) should have learned by now that these players aren't consistent at all like that - it's worrying he hasn't and adapted to a more fitting style (counters, essentially). As you say it's maybe stubbornness, but when it seems everyone and their dog is saying the system is broken you should probably think about changing it - the moments won't happen oft enough to make up for it.

On the bright side we still have the Wembley trip (at least 1), the weather is picking up and we are closer to the end of the season. Amad isn't suspended either so hopefully he gets a proper change now, and with Mount back and top 4 fecked some experimentation in the top half of the pitch would be interesting.

My take is that the players have given up on catching Spurs / Villa so, aside from the FA Cup, there’s realistically nothing left to play for this season, hence the lack of effort/urgency we saw yesterday (and in other games).

Couple that with the Euros in June, any players who might be involved in the tournament are unlikely to be pushing too hard in what are effectively meaningless PL games.

I’d like to think the team would take more pride in the shirt, respect the club and the fans who support them though.

Somebody asked him yesterday about the gaping holes in our midfield and how easy it is to get at our back 4, his answer was that he didn't care as long as we win and that we're not conceding many goals. The reason that we're not conceding many goals is down to poor finishing and blind luck. 31 shots from a team that is in a dire run of form just isn't acceptable.

As to the point about trying harder in the cup, that's like going back to the 70's, mid table finish and losing games that we never should but beating that all conquering Liverpool team on a number of occasions.

I’ll be very surprised if we get to the end of the season without being absolutely thrashed by someone. If a team has its shooting boots on and takes a couple of early chances, we could fall apart and end up with a 7-0 or worse like last season.

If we park the ETH discussion for the moment, and take a step back and think how do we as fans want to play football. If you look at the current teams in the prem my preference would be Liverpool or Spurs.

- Good to watch
- Scores lots of goals
- Exciting football
- High back lines and press from the front

Last night and most of this season shows that no matter what manager comes in they face an up hill battle with a squad that is technically lacking, slow, and struggles with the ball at their feet. ETH talks about being brave with the ball but I just look at our team and think there is only a handful that look comfy on the ball.

Last night it was like the ball was a bomb and we looked scared to touch it. You can see why Mainoo was starting in pre season and they bought Mount as well to try keep hold of the thing.

Personally I think if we had a quick/mobile CB who is good on the ball, another Mainoo type player in midfield I think the performance would be hugely different

Did you watch any spurs games last season? They were terrible. The new manager came in with his style and made them play it.
Since ETH has came in I haven’t seen any style of play or any sign of the players being coached. We seam to play as a team of individuals.

Some of us were at that game-despite a poor performance it was still a great buzz to get two very late goals and win the match-what’s your problem with that?
Perhaps you should go to some games? It’s really not difficult to get tickets…

Yes I think so if your intention is to make yourself look like a massive nob. Again. I regularly post about taking my friends and family to the games so do I assume that’s a dig at me? Something personal? Another of your gripes. I genuinely don’t give a st what you think as I offered you tickets years ago under your Unident log in but you’d rather be angry online than have a beer and go to Old Trafford to actually watch a game.

We were rubbish yesterday as we always are after an international break, even under Fergie. Players playing under different coaches in different countries for 2 weeks and they take a game to readjust. Wow, but let’s ignore that and berate our fellow fans due to the scouse size chip on your shoulder. All Because they do not agree with you. Sometimes. But you always have to be right

True but that was Conte and he plays dreadful football. Spurs team yesterday is light years away from Contes team, they have made some good signings, but also he promoted youth from the reserves who should have been playing last season but that has allowed them to play this exciting football.

If you look at our squad right now could we play the same football as say Spurs, Liverpool or Brighton? Are the players good enough?

Do you seem the same work ethic, technical ability in our team?
