Fantastic win!

Can anyone tell me why we didn’t go for double digits? I felt we relaxed a bit afterwards. I know in this situation it’s normally to show opposition “respect”, but I actually find it disrespectful to the opponent. Saying “we can score more but won’t” is a bit of a kicker really for both sides. Or am I seeing it wrong?
Although as fans we would love to see it, Arteta knows it's job done, so his instructions for the second half were probably don't exert yourselves, conserve energy. If you get any more goals then so be it and try not to get injured and don't concede a goal.

The subs also disrupted the flow of our game too especially with Saka going off.

If we had got say 7 in the first half he might have gone to break the record but 5 probably wasn't worth risking the players for.

3 points in the bag, Brentford match only 5 days away and Chumps league only 3 days after that (then little break until Citeh away)- we have a strong starting 11 but when you look at the treatment table I mean bench we have a few players that need match minutes so makes sense to use them and naturally that would affect the flow.
How annoyed would we be if we picked up a major long term injury and all we are left with is a DvD of the record win over lets face it cannon fodder (they have a new record for consecutive home defeats of 5 or more).

Plus see article on records broken and milestones too...which won't mean much if we don't win the league but just enjoy it one match at a time >.<

I watch a bit of Arsenal as my brother and some other family members are fans - can someone explain to me what Fabio Viera brings to the side? Think the first time I saw him play was against Oxford (last season?) and he didn't even stand out against them and was pretty awful last night. Someone needs to explain the offside rule to Jesus too.

It's spelt Vieira wink he brought an injury to his groin and pretty much first minutes back so no doubt rusty (not the Rusty that sold to the Blades...) but before injury was very lightweight was expecting him to be shifted out on loan but Marquinhos went (and never came back and won a trophy elsewhere already). He's a creative midfielder that if could retain the ball / is given space can create chances but I think he's only still with us as he is donor for Artetas black locks...
Jesus in desperate mode often tries to push the line/ bend the VAR crayons with his positioning, once he contributes or scores a couple he settles down...

Tierney on VAR and Ramsdale back in goal (Raya still on loan so can't face parent club)

Football Insider has been informed by sources that after Man City made a “substantial” offer, Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri is expected to agree to a record-breaking contract with the Gunners. As soon as the 16-year-old turns 17 on March 21, he will sign a professional contract with the Londoners.

Sources claim that Chelsea were also very interested in the attacking midfield player, and that Man City had made a “substantial” bid for him.

I wonder if the sources were his dad/ agent?

Mirror:
Takehiro Tomiyasu has reportedly signed a new deal with Arsenal as the Japan international closes in on a return to action.

The versatile defender joined the Gunners from Serie A side Bologna in 2021 and he has gone on to make 73 appearances for the club across all competitions. Now, according to a report from the Sun, Tomiyasu has put pen to paper on a new contract that will double his wages to around £100,000-a-week.

I like Tomi but given his ability to Partey (go play internationals to get injured...or just get injured) and Zin (oh my calf I don't believe it) chenko I guess we need the depth, at least Kiwior getting a run at left back position seems to have at least one that can turn up on a Saturday and not be dead by Wednesday (so far at least!).

We've got a bit of a chance here - assuming we beat Brentford for starters. If Liverpool and City draw, with Arsenal winning, we would go top of the table on goal difference, then it's in our hands. In fact the worst result would be a Liverpool win. If City beat Liverpool we would be one point behind them with a massively crucial game against them in a couple of weeks.

But knowing us we'll lose to Wolves or something!

Yeah beating Brentford isn't an easy job and their league position is unfortunate.

They've been on a stinking run (City twice, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and an FA cup replay in 6 of the last 8) with United and Arsenal to come in the following weeks. They didn't deserve to lose a few games around Chirstmas either, (Palace, West Ham, Sheffield United) despite having 12 first team injuries and Toney being out.

They should probably be well into the 30s in points and aren't relegation fodder. Their record vs big teams is generally quite good too.

Just seen a big old fixture gap and there's a bloody international break coming up, probably at the wrong time for us. Want to play City before it, not after. Kind of what happened last season, that game is at the wrong time entirely.

We (Wolves) have taken 12 points from Chelsea and Spurs this season - The least you could do is give us 3 after already beating us earlier in the season biggrin

Same for Chelsea at home being bumped as they have some tinpot (tongue-in-cheek wink ) cup match so won't be playing them next w/end frown

Massive respect to Thomas Frank and am sure Brentford will give us a tough time, but hopefully we can maintain our form and clock up another win.

Wouldn't like to be Arteta right now looking to go top and to turn Porto over next week.

Will be great to see Ramsdale playing again.

I don't know, we'll be heavily relying on the back line this game I reckon. I really like Ramsdale and think it was the wrong move to get Raya in, I believe Rams could have stats just as good as Raya this season given the defence hasn't yet suffered any major injury setbacks.

Even so, he hasn't played for a long time now, and he knows the pressure that's on him. It might be a nervy game for him.

Poor lad, but not playing since November then expecting him to be sharp… I fear this is as much Artetas fault. But you really can’t do that in Prem games.

Raya has made two errors leading to goals this season, according to the official stats.

I think Ramsdale has an impossible task. He gets one game and has to be absolutely perfect, and even then, he knows he's going to go straight back to being number two next game. The pressure must be absolutely enormous, and if he's ever had a consistent weakness, it's that his confidence gets rattled easily.

I feel awful for the kid. Last year he was on cloud 9, this year his career has gone massively backwards through no real fault of his own.

Oh ffs, I just turned over assuming it was half time in 30 secs to watch the final couple of laps of the F1, changed back to see it's 1-1, then saw the goal in the studio, oh dear. There's no excuse for that, this absolutely does my head in, goalkeepers taking so long to kick that this happens, no excuse when you've got (relatively) plenty of time to clear it.

This 100%. Rotating your keepers isn't one playing two matches and the other 36. Arteta is entirely to blame for Ramsdales form and it could cost us dearly. Its not as if Ramsdale wasn't good enough last season. Just that he doesn't speak Spanish.

yes

Arteta knew full well, he'll have to play Ransdale against Brentford, so to keep him out of action for every other game was rather silly.

I get what you are saying, but he’s just got this st in him, even before Raya came along
