I only watched it on TV buut I cannot fathom how lack lustre the team looked. After such a fighting performance to keep Chelsea to nil atStamford Bridge last month I would have thought they'd come out firing on a cylinders against ManU but no. There was no fire in their bellies, it was awful. Rooney's first goal was a fluke really and his second just showed how poor we were. One minute in ManU's box and the next giving him a tap in at the other end. I don't think we'll go down because remarkably there are three teams worse than us but we're a very, very poor side at the moment.

Now that I've just seen it on the TV, what the fk was Adrian doing??! Good hit from Rooney but that should have been saved.
In fairness,it looked like it moved a mile in the air, to the point that he actually turned to the wrong side to look behind him to get his bearings. An unbelievable bit of skill,a goal that I'll look back on and remember being there to see.Shame Tonka showed more aggression to a doormen in Brentwood than he did in being bullied by Rooney for it.

Wasn't at the game & didn't bother with any of the lowlights; annoying thing about "wonder" goals is that the fking thing will be repeated until the end of time. I said earlier in the week that rooney always scores against us. Game sounded like a pile of st & drops us well back after the good work in Feb.
Hopefully fingers can be pulled out of arses for Wed's game.
I was at brighton v ipswich - town won 2-0 with two decent goals; shocking first half though from both sides. Decent pies at the brighton stadium if you ever find yourself there.

I'm astonished at the amount of people I've seen/heard since the defeat in the Manure match saying they won't be going again. It was all around us amongst the regulars, also where my mate was sitting in the BML, same on the trains home and even now in general discussion everywhere it seems.
The general opinion was that although we might expect to lose against the bigger teams, the manner of defeat, the constant defensiveness and the type of football and lack of ideas is getting too much to take for many fans,( including me and I never thought I'd say it 'til recently) and it's increasing game by game. Last season we played some pretty decent stuff at times, this season it's been constant ugly fking dross.
When survival is ensured ( and a win tomorrow night ugly or otherwise will put us pretty much there other than a couple of draws I reckon)the club are going to have to have a serious think about what they are serving up at UP, because otherwise they are going to have some very very embarrassing crowds next season.

This is what my hammer mate meant when he said that he'd take a season in the Championship if it meant getting rid of BFS.The general opinion was that although we might expect to lose against the bigger teams, the manner of defeat, the constant defensiveness and the type of football and lack of ideas is getting too much to take for many fans,( including me and I never thought I'd say it 'til recently) and it's increasing game by game. There have been a few bright spots so far - Fulham & S'Hmtpon at home were decent enough performances/games, the West Brom game was entertaining and the away games against Spuds were good. There's been far to much ste played though & I know what you mean about playing the "top" teams - the capitulations, especially in the cups were pathetic and the manure game was a new low from what I can gather.
After last season we've not pushed on but there's been limited investment in the playing squad, a reliance on certain players & the bulk of the team is still that which got us promoted. Combine that with missing a striker for most of the season, overlooking buying another striker etc etc & it's not that surprising where we are.
I doubt that there'll be any particular change in the near future; post OS who knows - presumably G&S will flog the club at that point so maybe some investment potential on the horizon or we could end up with another like that stupid wker who bought cardiff or the yanks who stripped up the scousers a couple seasons back. Not sure whether I want the club to be another oil sheikh's plaything or a commie warlord's uk laundry either.
Oddly & despite the level of dross on the pitch & fking disgraceful queues for the tube post beating attendances have been good this year so far.
I do want to see some progression though

But ,and it's a BIG but.... the style of football has simply worn too many fans down, and yes( although it's taken a long while to break me)I would now happily have us sit in the upper middle of the Championship each season if it meant I was paying me money to see a player jink past another, see a little some movement and pace, and the odd slide rule pass, a shot from out side the box even, and generally just be sodding entertained once in a while...because although Rooneys goal was worth paying the entrance fee for, our type of football isn't.
I went to see DAG and Redbridge against Morecambe a couple of weeks ago. The Daggers had a poor mans Tom Ince (Elito)on loan, and I found I was getting out of my seat just through the enjoyment of seeing him go past someone with a few tricks. That pretty much says it all.

I think G&S are probably trying to just ensure survival until we move into the Olympic Stadium as relegation and a couple of seasons in the Championship is probably not supported by their current business model.
They've looked like a half decent side at times this season, I am not exactly hopeful, although a lot of people are touting us for the win. We should have gone for someone like Long or Jelavich in the transfer window, I can only imagine we didn't as who would chose to live in Hull over EL/Essex?!

He would've cost a transfer fee & we don't ever seem to be able to sign players from everton - who was that dhead who ended up a fulham claiming a move to WH would hurt his international chances Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
