Not sure I agree with this. I don't think the best player ever should necessarily be judged purely on their goalscoring record. I have absolutely no idea but has Messi created more assists etc than Ronaldo?

I think they're both brilliant players, it'll be interesting to see how they fare with new clubs. I think the fact Ronaldo has succeeded in 3 leagues definitely puts him 1 up in my book.

I would have Pele, Maradona, and Zidane in the same bracket but Maradona, like many others who cheat at the highest level, slips out simply because of that.

I know it’s been mentioned before but you just can’t compare across the generations of football.

The nutrition, training, speed, gameplay, etc have all evolved, Pele couldn’t play in the modern game, but if he’d been brought up in the modern era he’d obviously be outstanding because of his natural talent.

As brilliant as Messi is, he just isn’t the one man team that Ronaldo can be.
