I'd go along with that were it not for the repeated cover ups & shameful abdication of responsibility by the Police, coroner, successive governments & everyone else involved. Hopefully this latest inquest will lay to rest the injustice & then we should move on from it.
Well put.As a United supporter I was in the vanguard of opinion, at the time, that the disaster was a combination of cock-ups, loutishness, drink, over-crowding, poor crowd management, and an old ground. It was too easy to lay most of the blame on the fans, especially the poor sods who were killed. How wrong I was and how bad the whole lying cover-up was.
It is very easy to pin the martyrdom badge on scousers. They do whinge too much and don't have a monopoly on humour as they sometimes imagine.
But at Hillsborough they were royally screwed and the establishment kept on screwing them.
That's why my sentiment is for them to win the league this year.
It's no compensation at all, but maybe a ray of sunshine. Football is not more important than life and death.
