September, December and April look tough. May looks decent (on paper), which is always good to see.

Would be good to have zlatan secured this week. Still a long way to go and a lot of players needed to make the title charge.

Would have been furious had we signed Jamie Vardy.

Why ?

He scored the same amount of league goals as Martial, Rooney & Rashford combined

I don't get this "Vardy isn't good enough" for us thing.

He'll score at least 20 goals a season for any top 8 club in the premier league, Surely for £20M & 120k a week it would represent a bargain.

Simple answer: he is unlikely to score 20 goals in a season ever again, and his general ability is too poor for any passing side to tolerate. He's perfect for Leicester but would struggle at a footballing team.

£20m for vardy feels a little bit steep - for a player where pace is everything a slight injury, fatigue, niggles will impact on his performance disproportionately.

I'm not convinced about Zlatan either....a player of his age coming into the premier league...

could be another Veron

Reports suggest Ibrahimovic to come in for 1 year only (transition period) so as not to stunt the development of Martial & Rashford, Vardy would have done that as any buying club are likely to play him as their main striker.

I can see a front three of Martial/Rashford/Ibrahimovic working quite nicely.

Did you own a TV in 2014/2015.. he was fking crap. He also misses a fair few chances. I just think he got lucky and had loads of 1 on 1's. He appears to be a bit of a one trick pony, which doesn't really suit our style. I expect Martial/Rashford would have got a similar, if not better goals tally in that side last season. Like ORD said, he does not possess the technical ability for a club like United.

20 mill and 120k on a 29 year old who banged goals for one season in a counter attacking team does not sound like a great deal to me. 10 mil and 40-50k a week and I could understand it would be worth the risk.

There's also the point that both Rashford and Martial are better than him. It would be madness to play a 29 year old who offers nothing that they don't. Ibra is a very different player, and they might learn things from him.

Also, from what my Swedish friends tell me, the Swedish sponsors that will follow Zlatan where ever he goes will more than cover what ever it is he is demanding, they mentioned that there was a Swedish pizza company that was putting £20m/season into PSG on their own all because of him smile

Absolutely. The commercial side of the deal is a good one.

yeah ok fair enough ,

Still convinced Ibra will be more trouble than good .

I remember everyone ejaculating over the Falcoa singing on here a couple of seasons ago.

Ibra is likley to cost us about £13 mil for the season, thats it, its a bargain really

There is some nervousness about the Falcao situation but when you look they are actually vastly different stories, Falcao was coming back from a major injury and a season where he had scored 2 league goals and 9 in all comps

Ibra's stats are somewhat more impressive and he says he is feeling fitter than ever. Players do age at different paces and whilst it would have been great if Falcao had got back to his pre injury form I think we can see thats not ever going to be the case, if he'd managed it we would have been lauded for signing him (a la Ruud). If Ibra got even 50% of the goals he got last year he would get us 20+

Me too, I was using a lot of the Kleenex and so what? He had a big reputation as one of the best strikers in the world like Zlatan does but are we supposed to play it down because there's a risk he might flop? There's a risk with any signing, and a signing like Zlatan is going to get fans excited. Genuine question, but how do yo expect us to be reacting to signing (possibly) Ibrahimovic?

No, no, don't get me wrong here, i think Zlatan is terrific & i agree he is a big box office performer & i'd love to see him in the Prem next season.

I think i'm right in saying the deal will be made public re wages & length of contracts . I suppose we will have to see what United are going to pay in wages to see if he's good value or not taking into account he will be 35 years old come october.

This is all pie in the sky because none of us really know what's going on do we.

As i've said all along , everyone is available at a price, Harry would certainly be better value than Zlatan right now.

I guess the old saying goes, put up or shut up. I would like to see the price our Daniel quotes you too.

I agree with you BCM. Vardy isn't a big name star so therefore he's crap and is a one-trick pony.

I don't recall anyone saying Robin van Persie was passed it or that Ruud van Nistelrooy or Lineker were one-trick ponies (did either of them ever score outside the 6 yard area).

Take a look at this vid of every goal he scored last season if you think Vardy is crap. He has everything you'd want in an out-and-out striker. Headers from corners, good penalties, playing off the last defending, running past defenders, screamers for 30 yards out - everything.

Some people on here are either extremely ignorant or extremely arrogant.

So basically everything Rashford can and will be doing in the coming seasons? Why hinder his development when we can get Zlatan for a season, maybe two, and have Rashford and Martial learning from him? I know who I would prefer smile
