Looks like the team of the year is out. 4 players in, but somehow not Loris, Toby or Jan. Not quite sure how to be honest.
Toby is the best CB in the league. Jan isn't far behind anyone that cant see that hasn't a Scooby what they are talking about? who is in instead of them?

Cahill and Luiz?! Granted, Chelsea are leading the league but they have conceded more goals and lost more games than Spurs! Toby and Jan ought to have been in the team of the year. But I accept I'm biased as a Spurs supporter.

That's just nonsense. Also quite amusing that the two best teams in the league have spent the best part of it playing 3 5 2 so the formation of the team of the year..... 4 4 2 of course playing Hazzard and Mane completely out of position laugh

I'd agree that (at least) one of your centre backs should be in there but I'd also say that Alonso should be there instead of Rose (who has been injured for half the season hasn't he?) Don't really see the point of picking De Gea (or Lloris for that matter) as they don't exactly have that much to do! Tom Heaton has made twice as many saves this season than either of them....

Pffft....the CB pairing that has conceded 5 less goals is not in the team of the year...and De Gea ranks 15th in saves with 59, whereas Heaton has made 125! Hazard is 16th in assists with 5, the same as Robert Snodgrass & Nacer Chadli. Sigurdsson, Erkissen and De Bruyne have 11,12 & 13 respectively.

The problem is you're picking individual stats out for a team game. Of course Heaton will have made more saves, he's got the Burnley team in front of him, not the Man Utd bus that De Gea benefits from.

FWIW I don't think there is much between your CBs and Chelseas. I think yours are a little more predictable, but then Luiz and Cahill offer a bit more offensively.

But it's very strange that the team with the best defensive record and most clean sheets doesn't get one of the GK or CB's in, no?

That's without even mentioning that Luiz and Cahill aren't even the best CB's at their own club!

I agree, De Gea would not be my choice.

Heaton and Lloris both have a 75% save rate to shots on target. De Gea is 71%

Mignolet is 61% and Bravo is 55%.....

So I'd suggest that over a course of a season, De Gea isn't the best keeper, regardless of who he plays for. But everyone has a hard-on for De Gea, maybe he's bit more Hollywood than other keepers?
