Newcastle have been pretty dire for the last month or so, you still have to play them right ?Arsenal are pulling away. Thankfully the fixture has worked in our favour at least.
you know what's going to happen don't you , i have my fingers crossed for you RT .
What'd you make of Allen's performance? At least Lucas's excuse was that it want his position. Allen was in his preferred position.
I remember the lad when he came in, always making angles, short sharp passes and making space. Yesterday bar the shot on goal he was again pretty average imo.
My glass half full says he's a good squad player for the League Cup next season. He's just not stepping up regardless of how often he starts.
And my glass overfilled part of me thinks at least he's better than that drink driving idiot we spent money on last summer.

Allen did ok, no worse than the majority of our attacking players.
We were crying out for a Milner type sub that City used against us to try and get a 2 on 1 situation out wide and pull their fullbacks out of the narrow back 4. I lost count of the number of times GJ or PF received the ball out wide but with no support and marked by Chavskis wingers. When DS came on I thought Suarez may go wide but he didn't seem to.
At least one fullback and a player in the Silva type mould is top proirity for the summer.
Looking forward to Palace I hope DS is fully fit, with Hendo still out we need his pace desperately.

I think he's at a level that was good enough in the team that finished 7th last year, but needs to step up a lot further to be in a team that's top of the league.
GG, you were just round the corner from me, in fact I drove past Slaley as the match was ending.

It's been something I've been wondering these last few days. What would have happened if we'd gone out and played for a boring 0-0 draw and wasted time like Chelsea? Would JM have changed tactics at some point, or would we have got a 0-0 that I would have been happy with to be honest? Could have been a very boring game played our between the strikers in midfield with everyone else sat back in their own half,
I'm guessing JM would have changed it up with 20 minutes to go possibly but who know's. If we'd gone out to play for a 0-0 and Chelsea scored from a corner in injury time Rodgers would have had a hammering. I like to think we try and play football the correct way with attacking intent and I don't think we overly committed players bar a couple of corners where we were caught on the break by Shurlle/Ba. Stevie miscontrolled a pass that 999times/1000 he doesn't, st happens. Unfortunately for him it's in the spotlight because we're top of the league. JM tactics were far from a masterclass but what was clever was playing a weakened team which gave Liverpool the expectancy that they would win and avoided playing out a stalemate for most of the game.
It certainly highlighted for me the weaknesses in our fullbacks attacking capabilities. In order to break down the two buses we needed numbers and some slick passing out wide to draw defenders out of position (I think we did it once when Aspas slipped Sterling in with 5 mins to go). We needed something more than a young lad who's a decent defender or an out of form GJ, but we have no alternatives.

Great post.
The run in -
Liverpool:
Crystal Palace v Liverpool - 5/5
Liverpool v Newcastle - 11/5
Man C:
Everton v Man C - 3/5
Man C v Aston V - 7/5
Man C v West Ham - 11/5
Chelski:
Chelsea v Norwich - 5/5
Cardiff v Chelsea - 11/5
I cant see us winning the league
However 2nd place and a Champs League spot is amazing! Would have bitten Suarez's arm off if that had been suggested at season start.

Now they're away to Everton - the other half of the city yes, but do you think Martinez will want to lose that match - not a chance.
I wish Everton had Mirallis but hey ho, it is NOT going to be easy for them. If they fk up and you lot fk up agsinst Palace then you WILL only have yourselves to blame.
Needing a win at home on the last day I'd be very woried if you were playing anyone OTHER than Newcastle, they really are a sack of ste - in fact Pardew wants doing for fraud, taking his wages and being in control of that team - he is awful and so are they.
If you need to win that to win the EPL and do and he get sthe boot it'll be payback for Villa Park, 1990 ...
