Good point. Anyone seen this?
Is it likely to be a totla shed or possibly OK?

Looks a bargin. At that price look at tyres, cambelts and suspension noise.
Looks almost too good!
I'd bet large amounts of money that it's being sold by a trader masquerading as a private seller. Doesn't affect the car of course, but does make one want to ask questions!
It isn't. I know the owner and have been in that car, he's selling as he's bought a vag TDI for economy. Pretty nice car, definitely worth 2K.

That's that then! budget for a cambelt and thats still a bargin!
Not sure on the tints/massive 'zorst but at that price who'd worry!

Always happy to be wrong!

He could make the ad a little more personal then, in that case. It's very "matter of fact".

Though at that price, I imagine it won't be around too long!

I phoned the guy and he was so vague it was like he'd never seen the car we were discussing. "dunno about the brakes mate, I think it's some better discs or something. my mate did them at his garage"... Okkkkkaaaayyyyy. I don't know if he was a part time trader, needless to say I didn't go and see that one.
Someone phoned me a few week back (selling my unused mx5) and he asked if the arches were ok, any rust etc

I had absolutely no idea

Same if someone phoned about my scoob about the brakes etc, I would have to look

I know very little about most cars I have nowadays, must be an age thing! (42)

It's not PPP but has a Prodrive backbox and I've got a Prodrive sport-cat downpipe and Hayward&Scott cat delete pipe sitting in the garage gathering dust. Intended to put them on it, install Walbro fuel pump and get it mapped but couldn't justify the extra outlay (yet I went and spunked a load of cash on a diesel). If anyone is interested contact me directly as I appear to be highjacking this thread.

As above, great car and if my situation changes I'd buy another one. Struggling to think what can be as good for the money.

I went to view this car this morning. FWIW, clean car, drives nicely and a thoroughly nice and genuine seller.
No real rust on the underside, pulls cleanly, no smoke, good tyres.
Overall a nice and pretty much standard car.

Awwww, thanks for the kind words. smile

As we were talking I reckon you're not too sure you want an Impreza, too much wafting in that Alpina. Good to meet you.

....and if your looking for a PPP or the price is a little high I can take it. Constructive responses always welcome.

I'd say the price is bob-on.

Being objective and without Bias.....

It's very tidy indeed. Looks great in black and no doubt it's been well looked after in addition to being pretty much unmolested which is great.

It is high mileage, due a cambelt in 10K miles, if you want to tune it you will not only have to be sympathetic in the way it's tuned but in the way it's used thereafter.

IMHO £3,500 isn't far off the mark but with that sort of mileage and the fact it's due a Cambelt soon enough and there's not even PPP on it i'd be looking to pay nearer £3000. That leaves some room in the budget for the cambelt service (which you can have done straight away, and minor mods/remap, but more the next big service as it's over £500 by itself.

That said, it's a lovely car and i hope you both have a deal.

Any reason you didn't buy it?

It would have to be less than 3 k to tempt me I think. SCOOBIEWRX is spot on IMO.

Just curious how do you know it needs the cambelt done in 10k? Do you know the car or have you personally spoken to the seller?

It does look nice, tempted to swap the Volvo for something similar.

The car has done 90K miles and due a new belt at 100K miles. Every 50K miles on these. The advert is fairly well detailed and doesn't mention Cambelt service done which is something well worth mentioning if it has been so i assume it hasn't been done.

We'll it's sold and for the price I wanted, which is nice.

Regarding the cambelt, I thought it was 50K miles or 5 years.

Great car, will be missed.

Every 50K or 5yrs, whichever comes first.

Well done on the sale. I didn't think it would hang about to be honest. These wagons are disappearing fast like Jaffa cakes out of my kitchen cupboard. hehe

If it had a recent cambelt i doubt people would treat it differently, they will still want it cheaper
I hate selling cars due to tyre kickers

I had a chap look at a MX5 I had, drove it (like a tw*t) loved it, said he wanted it but because he was 50+ it was a bit of a mid life crisis thing and didnt know what to do, anyway he said he will have it, didnt bring any money with him and have heard nothing since
unbelievable

Totally agree with you and this is why I didn't get it done and (one of the reasons) why I sold it now.

I agree that the cambelt being done would've been a bonus but it'll need new tyres in 10K miles plus anything else that may fail in the meantime. With it done if would still be £3.5K and I still would've sold it for less because the £3.5K gives me room for haggling on the price that I know is going to happen.

Hated selling it, hated it even more when each buyer said it's a very nice car, I know it is (was).

If you're buying any of these at this age (10 odd years old) then you'll need to factor in a bit of cash for the work that hasn't been done and any upgrades that'll need doing. That would be the case of any car at this price.

Which further reminds me....anyone in need of a Prodrive sportscat down pipe? I've no idea where I'm going to sell that!
