My Bugeye wagon wrx 'shed'
Discussion
Autotrader. Was taken as p/x and the dealer was getting fed up of being offered '£1000 cash innit, bruv'
I offered a good chunk off, but said I was happy to take it as it was (dented, filthy and covered in dog hair)
They turn up, but you have to be quick.
It's currently running 1000x better and I'm really enjoying it
Needs more bhp now it's smooth though

More work on the scoob.
Finally got of my arrise and fitted my neutral switch.
Nice and easy to do to be honest. Then came the fact that I had little or no rear brakes.
Apologies for the pic
It seems the pads where rammed in there with no possible chance of ever moving.
But having cleaned out the calipers, and cleaned the edges of the pads, the scoob with now brake on the nose.
How it ever passed an mot like it ill never know.
Neutral switch has made the car change character completely. Nice and smooth and finally no hesitation on boost!
So the cars now running as OEM intended, it's time to start the modification plans. Decent shocks springs are brakes are a first, with exhaust and boost to follow.

Small update with the car. Aircon idle pulley died, and am currently airconless. Tensioner is on its way. Also after the neutral switch and my recent Cosworth panel filter, I've added Pagid RS4-2 pads to the fronts. I've also had a live diagnostic session on the car that picked up a lazy front 02 sensor, which at full revs and boost is giving me 9deg of knock retardation. But it is working, and the car is smooth and as strong as an ox.
Just clicked over 130k and going to be tracked at silverstone next weekend.

Awesome pic. Looks fab in the snow. You seem to be happy with your new steed. Glad all the little issues came out in the wash
Can't think of anything else that delivers so much for so little money. Mine had some fairly minor issue which where easy to track once you know where to look Pretty much. Easy to get checked as it shows under diagnostics. Sensor is about £40, 10 mins to fit. Even if you took it to a dealer, there's no reason you couldn't sort it.
Mine pulsed due to the switch flicking on/off as I was going along.
Also try getting the front 02 sensor checked. Mines slow to react and can cause a 'lag' in performance.

Right chaps, my NSR shocker has developed a rather large leak and needs replacing.
Im now unsure of what to do.
KYB shocks? Coilovers? just do the one/the pair/the whole car?
Budget isn't massive so open to suggestions.
I know Camskill do the shocks, but would saloon stuff fit? worth looking for STi stuff?
help please

Thoughts on these? My Aussie mate seems to think they should be ok. Über cheap as well

I've asked for spring rates.

Ah that's interesting Batty - why are you flogging? I have a similar story to you in that I bought a cheap Wagon with morettes last May and have really enjoyed it since day one, actually I have this thread to thank for fixing the only niggle I had with it, hesitation through the revs noticeable in the higher gears, turned out to be the neutral position switch .
Anywho I'm now thinking of selling up in the near future too as I fancy something that's more of an emerging classic, been looking at S2s but wondering if I may regret it in terms of the dynamics of the drive.....
Well i like change mainly, and the cheapness of the interior grates slightly.Anywho I'm now thinking of selling up in the near future too as I fancy something that's more of an emerging classic, been looking at S2s but wondering if I may regret it in terms of the dynamics of the drive.....
Mine has now had a pair of shocks, a new front 02 sensor and an aircon tensioner.
Will also be tracked twice over the next few months to earn its keep
Glad the thread helped, I find forum posts extremely useful to diagnose faults so like to contribute to any knowledge i find

Given trying to shift it? I have had mine up for a while as well, and not had anybody open the door on it! Not that I'm overly bothered - it's only for sale because I don't need as many cars as I have got!
Had a few offers. Nothing too insulting, but may have just bought some brand new HSD coilovers...Rollcage said:
What's the poundage on those? I have been considering a set of coilovers for ages, but I don't want to wreck what little ride quality mine has.
Replacing the standard shocks and springs with new shocks and a set of slightly lowered springs isn't really any cheaper than buying coilovers - but most sets I read about seem to be rock hard, which I don't want at all.
8 and 6 kg/mm. Spring platforms are separate to height adjustment. £585. 2 years guarantee. Nice apexes and good consistent lines. Car seems to be very happy there and going well. Nice one
Thanks chaps. Cherry picked the best vids On the softest damper setting it still under steered like a boat, but once tightened up it behaved much better. White line rear anti roll bar is the next port of call.
Then a remap.

Try a little bit more negative camber and just a tad of negative toe-in up front, will make the turn-in just a little bit sharper and reduce understeer some more. Leave the rear end as it is with factory alignment as it generally sticks pretty well.
Think about either a bump steer mod or fitting ALK too. Then just a thicker rear ARB and thicker bushes should help loads with roll and again help reduce understeer.
Overall, stiffen up the rear and leave the front end slightly compliant which in my experience works well for road and trackdays.
Well the car has yet to be setup as I'm letting it settle. Do you have a decent setup that I could use when it goes it for alignment next week?Think about either a bump steer mod or fitting ALK too. I've got the thicker rear bushes, just need the bar.
Car was running 0' everything.
