Yup, I.M. you should really try to order parts through them, its seriously painful, hence one of the reason I moved away from Subaru, who wants to wait a couple of months for an off the shelf sensor... any other manufacturer would have one in a couple of days.Edited by tonyb1968 on Sunday 12th July 08:18

These still have the EJ25, that same crappy pile of poo that they put in the MY06 STI's onward, the FA series engines have not made it into the STI yet but they are in the WRX, we all wait to see if the 2016 car has the FA engine and then see the 2014/15 models drop drastically in price because people dont want the EJ25.
As for the rest, supply and demand, not much demand so they don't have to supply many, it keeps the price artificially high, I.M. are trying to bring back the days of the classic, when a 2 year old one went for 2 grand less than a new one, it wont work now because the cars that compete with the STI are better in pretty much every area....
Some fair points raised I guess. Golf R just comes up time and time again when researching the WRX STi. Some prefer it, some don't, so it's not clear cut either way. As it stands a Golf R has about zero interest for me, even less for anything with an Audi badge. Perhaps its time to take a Golf R out and see how much it impresses. The well documented Subaru 2.5 engine issues are a concern, at the moment they surround the hawks and hatches but I've seen no proper evidence to support any changes for the later cars either. My nearest worthwhile dealer is a 70 mile round trip away so that's not exactly ideal. Not too concerned about economy, just when I saw an average MPG of around 27 for the STi I thought that sounded reasonable. Lack of decent deals and incentives on a new STi does not help. Dealer won't offer any discount on a car that is in stock, saying Subaru will not allow it because they don't want to devalue them. Still going to test drive one as soon as I get the time.
I've got one, had it 10 months. Love it. Only problem is ride is very hard for every day driver, otherwise great.
We r a family of 4 and it's a great size. I looked at Audi rs3 (10k more) Evo x ( no new ones left)
No golf for me.. Gets more attention than my 997 turbo (which I will be selling next week on here)
For a fun 4 door car which you don't see many of its great. Waited 4 months to get it.

I bought mine because I like it, and I like my classic. I like it because it is different, and value for money, and not a VAG or beemer.

The main problem was the headstuds, which is an easy fix. Piston problems in the grand scheme of things was less prevalent and more of an issue for modified cars, so I doubt this was changed.We won't really know however until one turns up at API or elsewhere for a rebuild...
