How do I find out about the 22B series? Is it amateur? Is it shown anywhere online? (I googled it and rather unsurprisingly it returned a lot of results!).

Well I'm impressed! Are you an engine builder or mechanic by trade?

My old Terzo PPP No 230. Sold it almost 2 years ago. I think it now lives somewhere down near London.

At a photosession few weeks ago.

there have been made some changes until now, e.g. the rims are bright orange and the bonnet is black.
I'll add some pictures if wanted and available. smile

I do like to see a reversed manifold. That's the way to do it! smile

Just spotted your rotated turbo too, very nice.

Was that courtesy of RCM?

Can you explain to me about rotated turbos and reverse manifolds? I've seen it mentioned a few times but have no idea what the purpose of it is.

Thanks!

It just means that the turbo is mounted in a slightly different position (rotated 90 degrees away from standard), allowing a much bigger tubo to fit. Can also help with airflow I believe, you can sometimes get a straight run without bends too close to the compressor. Maybe.

The benefits of reversing your inlet manifold include having to use less intercooler piping which helps reduce turbo pressure drop and turbo lag, improved throttle body cooling for lower inlet charge temps, bit more room for a larger turbo, and using a phenolic manifold spacer you can not only add to better inlet manifold cooling but can then use a bigger diameter air inlet pipe to your turbo if you are not running a rotated setup.

The only downside IMHO to running a reversed manifold is you have to get rid of your A/C unless you go to the trouble of having brackets manufactured allowing you to keep it.

The rotated Turbo setup allows you to run a much bigger turbo, much bigger diameter and straighter turbo air inlet piping without bends and pinches, looks very cool too.

You do though have to have custom headers, uppipe and downpipe (screamer pipe if you run one) but small price to pay for having the freedom to run whatever turbo you like without restrictions. Even with a reversed manifold and phenolic spacers there is a limit to what turbo and piping you can run under the manifold.

I personally think it's great for big power builds but for most of us mere mortals it's not a requirement and will not restrict you from making silly power.

Does look pretty awesome though biggrin

Thanks Lefty and ScoobyWRX!

Interesting stuff, I've spent the past 6 months doing a lot of work on my car to bring it back to good health.

Once I've completed all of that work I'm going to look at getting a bit more power from it. The engine has had a huge amount spent on a large rebuild about 6,000 miles ago and it was one of the reasons I bought the car, it just now needs to be turned up a bit!
