Si, not great fan of the colour of the intake mani, but I will hold judgement till the engine bay is complete! wink

Looking good though! What ate the exhaust manifolds going to be like? Are you just going to run them as short as poss? Or are you going for tuned lengths?
manifolds not staying..

spent a bit more time on the car last week.. this time of year I get the odd spare hour or two and had two helpers too.. also it is near where I work lots which helps.

Anyway - the manifold reversed is causing a fair bit of extra work as intercooler pipes won't pass over standard size alternator or powersteering pump, so run with electric powersteering pump (paint to locate, more expense), small alternator and fabricate a new mount (more time fabricating and more expense) when if I fit original manifold on then a standard alternator and bracket and powersteering pump go straight on, just means 2feet more intercooler pipework.. seems a no brainer..
manifold will get coloured but is currently silver.. no pics of that on yet but some pics of last Thursdays progress

Fuel tank repositioned and bolted down now
Fuel tank filler mounted
Fuel filter mounted in engine bay
Fuel feed line run under the car but not clipped in place yet
One manifold and turbo and downpipe fitted
Radiator removed and modified to move pipe connections to take oe hoses
Bumper and lights out as going to fit morrettes I have at home to aid intercooler pipe runs
Rear bulkhead now fitted and parcel shelf fitted
Rear side windows secured and ready for 180+mph lol
Holes in the bulkhead filled
Throttle body fitted for mocking up.
Plus loads of other bits I have forgotten about
Very happy with progress and lots of stuff also planned

I have to say that I quite like the manifold colour choice.

Im more a fan of originality than most and I repfer to clean or re-anodise parts rather than paint them, but to me (on the pic at least) that looks like a cross between gold and green annodise.

Considering Simons signature colour since before 2000 has always been Green, I think its also an appropriate choice.

I still dont know where he finds the time though!!
yeah I think a blue car might not suit wink

Few changes, for ease and speed of being finished.

Manifold changed and altered radiator fitted, ps pump mock fitment

Stevenson motorsport ecu loom arrived smile

Morrettes painted and test fitted, intercooler pipework made from bits I had laying around so can be used to plan real pipework.

yes, very short headers.. not masses of places to mount them either smile

the headers are quite long if I go in oe positions.. and starter motor makes it difficult

all just mock up at the moment, they are vf22's, I might run the car on them if proper turbos havent arrived and everything else is done.

hoping to get mock up complete this week so can pull this engine out and fit the real one next week smile

Happy new year and all that rubbish wink

Passenger side headers

Wrapped along with passenger side downpipe

Turbo compressor cover rotated and it all bolted in, feels good to be bolting it together

Reversed manifold is also back!

just one turbo or you having one for each bank? or does it not work like that, is the inlet manifold separated inside or does it all merge into one.
Matchinf turbo for drivers side, just not arrived yet.

The standard manifold has a butterfly yo separate or merge the banks in the manifold depending on manifold pressure.
I have done away with that and merged them.

Various other things done today, massive thanks to CJ for helping out again.

lots of little bits done, the bits that take all the time, but main things being pump and filter at rear of car lowered to level of tank outlet to ensure the pump cannot cavitate, catch tank fitted, vf22 fitted to drivers side just to mock up and check a few bits..

waiting on a massive order of stuff I just placed now.

No point when you can fit a single turbo that will allow plenty of power.

The problem I faced was fitting a 1000bhp turbo somewhere where headers werent ridiculasly long when I am already having to find space for the larger engine.

It might not work and will then need to fit a large single turbo, we will see.

Only advantage I see on a flat4 with twin turbo would be if you had two turbos laying around and a welder.

Some done again today
Second turbo housing rotated, and fitted

Header tank, fuel feed bulkhead fitting, fuel feed to pump all mounted/done
Fuel rails and injectors back on as altered to give more clearance for fittings

An old friend popped in and he was unaware of even the cars existance and his reaction to the car was v amusing.
Brought home the work thats been put in and how close it is to running.
