Its a myth.

Go from a top mount to a front mount and you wont notice a difference if you werent aware of the change. Its in your head.

As you my car? The pipe runs are around 3feet a side which is shorter than most after market intercooler setup and I have two turbos filling the air.

You drive along at 3000rpm at light throttle and the intercooler and pipes have air in, you floor it you have more air. Its not that they hsve to be filled.

Take a look at the skyline intercooler lengths or even the car the intercooler came off of. The gto it has longer still.

The turbo location makes the pipework shorter not longer btw.

I am not expecting it to be quick spooling anyway it in effect has a large turbo on a 1.6litre engine twice.

Massive thanks to CJ, Richard (Dukeboy), and Ian (Bod) for spending the day working on the car, Ed for the timing light and lorry battery and Dan for videoing first start and charlie for the smells wink

video of first start might be a little bit of fuel in the exhaust, only a little lol - exhaust current consists of a silencer on each downpipe as awaiting more parts

Thanks guys.

It didnt really sink in, I know I had a stupid grin on my face when it first ran.

Been itching to get back to do some more work on it since.
Hoping to start tidying up and finishing bits off tomorrow.

Waiting in intercooler pipes and exhaust parts at the moment so will concerntrate on everything else.

Unexpectedly got the afternoon with the car, few silly little jobs sorted, reg plate, and some less silly jobs - oil pressure, fuel pressure, oil temp sensors all plumbed and wired to ecu.
Alternator wiring finished off.

Various other bits done, nice to spend time pottering and not trying to achieve a particular goal.

So yesterday I was suppose to map one car early morning and then meet CJ to work on the car... well as with most things when it comes to cars it didnt go to plan and I arrived at the car to meet CJ at 6pm, some 7hours late.. oops.....

To find that CJ had fitted linkage, prop, changed gearbox oil and made the exhausts!! just need tail pipes adding to finish off, and he had dropped the car to the floor.. many many thanks mate.

It looks so so different now its sitting on the floor and so I had to drive 2cars lengths just to check it could under its own steam lol.

It is difficult to judge being inside with a concrete floor but it seems very loud and now with a stainless exhaust wrasp to it.. me like lol but need more silencers I suspect.

Thanks also to Justin who also came up but no idea what he did (sorry) as he left before I even arrived lol.

So we then fitted the door windows and front bumper, lights and had a mass tidy up.. some pics

I also prefer standard lighte but they are heavier and allow less clearance although I think I could get then in.

Intercooler pipework started.

Relatively happy with drivers side, although havent added flares and clamps yet, might try and different route for passenger side. Also intend measuring to try and get both sides similar in length.

But regardless it is nearly there and workable. Might once car is running get some ally pipes welded with less joins than my ally and sillicone pipes even though this lot cost a fortune lol.

What kind of results are you ultimately hoping for, and what's the plan for this monster. Is it for drag, purely street/pleasure, or are you going to do Time Attack/TOTB etc...
I want a dyno graph with 1000bhp on it.

Totb, some drag racing and track days.
I am no senna so commiting the cost and time to time attack currently is not on my agenda. I'd love to do a lot more track days and perhaps decide to do ta in future and some sprints.
I am sorting race licence but more for fun and work related.

I expect everything to break. Then the bits that dont are a bonus wink

I expect it will take that much in th dyno but I am going to have to dail it down in lower gears for launch etc.

I have uprated rearshafts not currently fitted. Rest is oe 6speed sti running gear. Eventually will be replaced with a sequential box.

Well I have broken rear driveshafts and the output shaft on an uprated 5spd at mid 600s bhp previously.

Ultimately I need a sequential dog box but I am unwilling to throw that much money at a gearbox just now and you need a 6spd casing to put it in, so if the gearbox breaks then i have a casing lol.

Mapped it to 0.5bar late last night.

425bhp @ 0.5bar kind of epic.

Cant wait for decent boost.
