Howdy all. Has anybody heard about Subaru testing the 6 pot engine in the BRZ?
I was chatting to my Subaru engineer during a service of my Legacy 3.0 Spec B in Dusseldorf and he mentioned the a development team in Germany have tested the H^ engine in the BRZ - apparently it fits no problem, but of course is heavier, sits over the front axle and they are unsure as to whether it fits the handling sports car image. But apparently goes much better and sounds great.

I believe they should release that version for 5K more - they would definitely sell. I have done the 4 pot and turbo thing - personally, it can not match a good naturally aspirated 6 pot engine, so I would rather have the BRZ H6 and deal with the handling.

Am I in the minority on this?

No, mean I would happily deal with the handling even if it was a nose heavy understeering beast. The 911 has a 6 cylinder engine over the rear axle, so with Subaru most likely having most of the engine the right side of the front axle, I doubt it would be so bad.

The problem is the car has an uninspiring engine, adding forced induction is only making it less inspiring. Of course, if handling is your cup of tea, then perfection for you, but for eventful drives, most people need exciting engines and a flat six would help the car a lot.

I wondered if Subaru and Toyota could possibly create a tiny capacity flat six with an electric motor for low end torque with high end flat six scream with a weight around 1400kg...
