This is one I bought (BH repairs) and it's a brilliant bit of kit as far as I'm concerned. Yes you can get them a bit cheaper, which you linked to, but these people were really helpful and gave me full confidence and a 2 year guarantee, which I felt was worth paying the extra for such a purchase. I did get about 3 or 4 other sets of plates for the car to sit on as well so was an added bonus.

At first I didn't like going underneath it but you do get used to it, so far my mini has been up on it for about 5 months ( I do regular checks to make sure everything is sound ) and it's solid as a rock...so long as your not really really stupid with it, it ain't going nowhere, it's a good heavy and solid bit of kit. smile

Be aware though that they are very heavy, although supplied with wheels and not too bad, it may not be the easiest of things for you to move about if you have back trouble so you might need help positioning it. It came on a pallet which also took a while to get it off, but I think there is a way of doing it on you own if you read the instructions...me, as usual just ignored them and nearly done my back in biggrin

HTH.

There are two basic types of scissor lift, one where you cannot work on anything in the middle of the underneath of the car (imagine you want to replace the exhaust), and the two pistons two almost separate platforms where you can access the underside of the car. The first type is ok if you are working on corners of the car but pretty useless for anything else. The second will give you access to corners and limited access to the underside of the car, these also tend to be the heavier constructed.

This is mine. Best thing I have ever bought... I worked on a car on the cheaper version and found it unstable...

On this type its completely safe. If I am working underneath I lower the ramp onto the safety chocks (you can just see them) which means there is no reliance on the hydraulics and its locked into position. Lifted my BMW 7 series no problem.

Just to bring an old thread back, dont suppose you can remember what brand this one was and could you access the middle of the car i.e drop the gearbox etc.
