Just replaced the boot struts on Mrs OS's Fiesta because they were starting to lose pressure. How do I safely dispose of the old ones? Can I just chuck them in the metal recycling at the tip? I'm assuming they're still pressurised to some extent.

You’d be absolutely astonished at what I’ve got rid of in a wheelie bin before.

Just make sure heavy stuff is in the bottom and not too heavy each week.

Yeah just throw in the bin. If it fits it goes in for me. Some weeks my bin I’ve struggled to even drag it down the path it’s been that heavy and it’s always still been emptied.

I threw some in the bin once.

Turned round as I was walking away to see the bin lid slowly opening. eek

The end of life manual I have shows drilling a hole in the base of the strut; releasing the pressure and then tipping the oil to dispose of; then scrapping the rest as metal waste

Why not do a bit of repurposing and retrofit them to the wheelie bin lid?

Glad somebody laughed. clap

I once put a post on a forum that was along the lines of:- "Life is too short to worry about Health & Safety," and was thrown off the site.
