Hi guys & girls,

I'm trying to make a little motor work which I got at a car boot. It's a Hoover MK 4 motor. 1/4 horse, single phase. It's got 4 poles coming out of it and looks like two windings and some sort of clutch/centrifugal switch. I think this makes it a split phase motor.

The cable which was sticking out of it had 4 wires in it which I guess went to some sort of switch.. What's the way to wire this? Live to one side of both windings and neutral to the other, earth to the case and see what happens?

Cheers.

And a start capacitor
Why would you need a capacitor with a dedicated winding? :s
