Hello smile

Mods please move if this is a bad sub forum.

I've an irritating problem and looking for some ideas. My Rav4 this morning started making an odd rubbing noise when it turns (left). Internally it sounded like plastic rubbing - almost like plastic sheeting caught in the wheels. With the windows down it sounds more metallic, the best way I can describe it is a singing noise as if metal is rubbing metal - but barely contacting.

Happens in various gears, doesn't stop if coasting, not every turn but most. Doesn't happen driving straight but the noise will keep going a few yards after a bend into the straight, even low speeds do this - not tried high speed cornering! Front brake disc was slightly warmer than rear.

Took it to a local garage and they didn't have any luck. Said wheels/wheel bearings etc all good. They did manage to reproduce the sound - it's a little intermittent - but relatively easy to make happen.

So, anybody have any ideas what else it might be or where to start checking?

Thanks, I was about to add, on another drive, applying the brakes STOPS the noise, if I brake on and off it'll stop the noise in perfect sync. I had a feel and the front discs are waaaaay hotter than he rear.

I'll try and get a proper look in the light
