Rust proofing cars

I have been a fan of Waxoyle for 40 odd years. I first used it on a Lancia Montecarlo which I owned for over 30 years. It managed to keep the rust at bay on that and when I sold it there was very little rust anywhere on it. I did my MX5 a while ago after replacing the rear section of the sills but I was never that happy about the lance I used to inject the Waxoyle into the sills and closed areas.

A few weeks ago I experimented with making a new spray head for the lance and came up with this in the pictures below. The pipe diameter is just 4mm so it will go anywhere there is an access hole. Its difficult to photograph the spray pattern but its almost 360 degrees and the Waxoyle is atomised pretty well. To test it I put the lance into a 2 ltr plastic bottle and it coated the inside perfectly! The pressure container is an old paint pressure pot which has the added advantage you can adjust separately both the volume of air and fluid. Here are a few pictures of the manufacture of the spray head which is a tight fit in the pipe, and a few of the MX5, and my SLK which I have also given a coating!

For a 20 year old car the Mx5 is remarkably rust free, save for a couple of scabs on the rear sills, hence the replacement. lets hope the waxoyle keeps it that way!
