Oddball ASDA trailers
Discussion
Once these trailers become mainstream every day objects they will be the bain of every truck drivers life. Smart assed transport managers sitting behind a desk telling the driver lies that it has been at 'such and such' several times and managed to negotiate the limited access or worse sticking another 4 pallets on because there 'was space' and knowing the weight limit was already topped out before the extra pallets were loaded.
Slightly off topic but relevant to the weight scenario I brought up above.
I remember picking up a load from the Eurocentral terminal, an open-top container which had came through the chunnel so at the time was allowed to run 44 tonnes (38 was the norm then) I had been warned the load was grossing at 57 tonnes but out of one yard into the adjacent yard where they would remove a few pipes bringing me down to 43.5 tonnes. I sat in the cab with the paperwork and counted up the weights, and with the pipes off it looked like I was still 3 tonnes over. Called the transport manager and was told it was my counting as he had checked and it most certainly was 43.5 tonnes. I left Eurocentral and went to the nearby weighbridge, sure enough I was grossing at 47 tonnes. Called transport manager and was told it would be ok to take to Brechin. 30 minutes later I arrived at the yard and told him that if he didn't lighten the load it wasn't getting delivered. Talk about the s**t hitting the fan, transport manager's name wasn't Billy liar for nothing...

I would want more money if I had to undo all of those bloody straps down the side. Look at that kp trailer, you would be claiming overtime by the time you did both sides
Ugh. Many an unhappy, cold, wet hour wrestling with the horrid things. Usually covered in grease and/or just plain broken too Jimbo. said:

Ugh. Many an unhappy, cold, wet hour wrestling with the horrid things. Usually covered in grease and/or just plain broken too We have them on trial but they seem completely pointless to me as we have to put less in the roll cages to hit maximum load without going overweight. I'm sure somebody somewhere thinks they're a good idea but I'd put good money on them not being a driver.
