2.2 transit custom vs T6
Discussion
I'm an ex vehicle technician and I now work as a delivery driver for a big supermarket as i'm knocking on retirement and the jobs easy and stress free! We have had Sprinters for the last 8 years replacing previous Iveco daily's, As most have said the Sprinters drive nice, Are comfy and TBH not much has gone wrong with ours, Just service items, Front lower arms as we drive them down farm tracks etc a lot at warp factor 2 and a few have had adblue injectors replaced, Mechanically they are very good, We run them to approx 275K miles over 4 years then they get replaced, They run on supermarket diesel which snobs on here say is inferior to Shell v power but to the best of my knowledge we have had zero fuel related problems with them.

Update: less than a month later the Vito has got an ABS failure warning coming up. I think the answer is all vans are sh!t.
You must be imagining it, fanboy up there^ says mercedes never go wrong don't you know? Don't worry though, I imagined a flat battery after two years, and I imagined mercedes telling me was due to me "not driving it properly", and I also imagined spending 2k on the autobox at 4 years/25k and another flight of fantasy where the PS rad dumped fluid all over the road due to wearing where it rubbed on the bumper (might be worth pre emtively checking yours for this - it was the nozzle where the hose connects). But like so much today, they're not sh!t so much as just equally lifed - designed with a warranty period in mind, or perhaps a 4 year lease and a few more months of "used approved". Then it's just pot luck.
Hope you get it sorted without too much ag.

I had to put a new brake light bulb in mine the other day, that’s three in the last eighteen months!
Yeah, my Vito used to eat brake light bulbs. That and tyres.Transit at 4 years and 40k urban miles, never had a bulb and only replaced the original front tyre the other day, still have one on the back! But don't talk about brake pads - annual service item it seems!

One brake, one indicator, and one headlight…Transit at 4 years and 40k urban miles, never had a bulb and only replaced the original front tyre the other day, still have one on the back! But don't talk about brake pads - annual service item it seems!
Tyres seem to be lasting well enough, but I’m not doing the mileage I used to.

Probably not the wisest weapon to tackle the speed humps of camden, ahem.
Oh, and springs. Broken spring most years.

Up to 2017 transporters had a few egr problems, juddery clutches, but not too much else.
As long as you avoided the bi turbo one I would have recommended one.
Since 2017 theyve become more unreliable. I wouldnt buy one personally now.
Just a few weeks ago I looked at one whilst up on a ramp. Delivery mileage.
Cant be bothered to paint them properly?
Or dont want them to last passed 10 years?
TBF no one paints those bits, especially not on vans. Quite surprised to see the half shafts are painted. As long as you avoided the bi turbo one I would have recommended one.
