I thought it funny seeing as he posted before the episode aired. When people do that I get an urge to mail them the basic plot of the books...evil
biggrin

The series arc is worked out when the series is ordered. So when they ordered two it mean they could figure out two years, which helps.

I really love the Hounds scene...and it was Biter! That's how the Hound gets fked up!
Tiny role for Rorge there. biggrin

Anyone else a bit disappointed at the reintroduction of The Mountain? We got a recap of him burning the Hound for playing with his toys but that was about it.

The OH didn't realise who he was and couldn't work out why it's such a big deal to fight him. I was trying to explain that in the books he's one of the most depraved and brutal characters but it was just "meh".

I think they've done a good job with Oberyn in the show at least.

Looking forward to Mountain vs Viper, it was one of my favourite scenes from the book - if not the most frustrating.

Yeah, you do have to have paid close attention to realise he was the savage jouster in season 1, and the guy doing al the plundering/raiding throughout S2 and S3.

3 different actors and a general lack of screen time have weakened the character's impact a bit in my opinion, but I'm sure the next episode will cement him in people's mind biggrin

It's not as if he's not been talked about!

The Mountain as said is on screen even when not, he gets mentioned a lot.
Considering the lemon the show was sold with the first actor (as in walking out and leaving them in the lurch) I think they've handled the situation ably and introduced him with a suitable ubermonster sequence in the last episode.

I think for show only people, there's not enough emotional investment in his character, you really need to hate him next episode. I do because I 'witnessed' it whilst reading but for the OH at least.

Just wondering is it enough to be told about him but not actually witness it for show only people.

Oh absolutely, I think they've done a great job with keeping him known without being seen much. Still didn't help my other half recognise the 3rd different actor in 4 seasons... hehe

The boxset may help? There were two scenes cut from the first series.

As it understand it the actor from the first series fked them over to go and be in LOTR instead. His choice but I think he shouldn't of behaved that way. In my opinion no one is going to recognise him inside his Orc costume. He thought he could be the next Andy Serkis and it's back fired

I agree, I read it that way too. He used GoT as a stepping stone and then made a bid for a film franchise.
So I don't understand the support for him on some sites. He left them in the lurch. Some people wanted him back for S3/4. I am very happy with the new and hopefully last Mountain.

Episode 9 is a battle, 10 will have a supernatural feel. The dragons, the white walkers...
I wonder what it will be....
I instantly thought of Lady Stoneheart, but that is because I had just been reading about her....I thikn her hanging a Frey would be best, but then there is Bran as well.
Incidentally, the last episode was the most watched one so far.

"The Mountain and the Viper"
"The Watchers on the Wall"
"The Children"

So we know that the titles don't cover the whole hour, but more than likely cover the last big scene.
The Children is a massively vague title however, it could mean anything, and cover the whole episode.
Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, the ice babies, CotF, LS and her search, Sansa etc.

The Children could refer to either the stark children or the children of the forest.

Given that ep10 is supposed to be CGI heavy and where Bran is heading I would suspect the latter.

Watchers on the Wall is going to epbe castle Black fight I think? Or will they leave it with a massive cliff hanger without Stannis showing up? My feel is that they will have Stannis show up next season?

I'd like to see Lady Stoneheart this season. Too soon to have her catching Brienne? Killing Pod would annoy a lot of people now

The synopsis for that episode made me think that Stannis would show up to save the day - almost an exact reversal of S2E9 Blackwater Bay wink I hope Lady Stoneheart does appear in the final episode, if they leave it too long it could get just a bit confusing for the non-book viewers - I would imagine lots of flash backs would be necessary to try and explain it.

Have either of you been following the S5 casting news ? It looks like they are casting a young Cersei, I can only assume this is a dream sequence or a flashback involving Maggy The Frog. They are also casting lots of more Dornish characters.

I think the Children is a clever title, it perhaps predominantly refers to the CotF, but covers the White Walkers, Tyrion, Arya and all the rest etc.

I have. Looks like Dorne has lots of people, and a young Cersei sequence with a friend and Maggy the frog is in the works.

I've seen clips of Stannis on horse in the snow. So I reckon we'll get the Stannis save.
Way too soon to catch Brienne, I read a thing on the ASOIAF forums again explaining why.
I hope we do see her though.

rofl at the reactions around the net to the big fight last night

Having just watched the scene, it really does do the book justice and is possibly one of the most gory death scenes ever shown on TV.

Most of the Greyjoys have been!

Griff - probably not, should be meeting him early next season?

Cut completely?

I haven't seen a breakdown for Griff yet...I am hoping we get a mention of the uncles at Moat Callin tonight.
