Reading it for the first time. Penguin modern classics with an introduction by Irvine Welsh.

Ok, he admits it was an inspiration, but come on?! Train spotting etc. Is the same book in essence, but just transported to Edinburgh in the 90’s, including dialect talk, true horror, seemingly impossible amounts of drug taking. Also the common thread, in this case ‘Greeks’ restaurant, as well as time flicking backwards and forwards (Tarantino must have been influenced by this as well).

Nonetheless, both are very upsetting books in a lot of ways. No real hero’s/heroines, often someone who isn’t good to start with ends up being worse.

There Enders my first ever book review, whereby I point out what must be the bleeding obvious to everyone else, but just wanted to check I wasn’t misinterpreting anything?
