Its at the Stoneleigh show this weekend
How long will you be there? I'm going to be in the area this weekend and might pop down on Sunday afternoon to see this.
We have a stand there for the 3 days. We've got the Rover, and a cracking Westfield which we want to give to someone who'll build it, and write about it for us in the mag for 12 months. That might be just as mental.
Drop in and say hi.
Thanks all, it's Charley's work and I should take no credit at all, but I'll pass your comments on to him, and let you know now, how things progress a bit more thoroughly. I asked Ted if he'd mind me putting this up, and he thought you'd enjoy it, so I'm glad I did.
I live a mile or so from Charley, so I enjoy being the Sorcerers Apprentice, its just a pleasure to watch him work and listen to him, know what I mean? Like I say, Charley and the car will be on our stand at the Stoneleigh Historic Motorsport Show this Friday-Sunday, and if I might be forgiven for a bit of blatant plugging, this is where it lives normally.

Cheers,

Holy moly, this thread's spreading around the Net fast... You are truly worshippable Al
Where's this show that we can see the car at this weekend?
AL
Alex,
Nice to meet you. I should take zip credit for this, its Charley's work. Cue cliche: He's forgotten more in a week, than I've learned in a lifetime.
Where did you see this?
I saw this on Scarborough Cruise, but I'm surprised I didn't see it on the other forums that I frequent, because we're pretty much all Rover enthusiasts.
Come on then, where's this show, I've not heard of it before?
The show is..

Alex, what part of Lincs are you from? We're at the southern tip of the county if you need a lift. Glad to get another car nut there.

It'll be road legal, so definately. Also LPG'd.
if it's LPG, does that mean it's exempt from the Kengestion charge? - the 'greens' will love this, imean it's not a 4x4, is it?
Excellent project, automotive excess in it's excess, I'd love one
I feel a cunning plan being hatched. What say you we park it outside City Hall for free and petition the little wan.. er, Mayor on something?

I'm at University in Scarborough at the moment, so it'd be a good 4 or so hour drive to the show
I'm normally in Grimsby.

Ok, if you feel like making it to Stamford, then Charley and I can take you in from there. Just PM me.
I'm not really up for a 3 and a half hour drive this weekend to be honest, sorry
I don't actually know if I'd have enough money to pay for the petrol to get there and back :P Student poverty is rubbish!
Is the car likely to turn up at any more northern shows anytime soon?
Or in a couple of months when I'll be back in Grimsby for summer....

I've done a bit of reading about these engines. Apparently Rover took over production and development of the Meteor in 1943, swapping it with RR by giving them their jet engine work.
Therefore it's most likely this engine is infact a Rover engine - perfect for the SD1!
There's also an 18 litre V8 variant called the Meteorite which was used in the Antar tank transporter.
