Perry was the stig, but not anymore, he was "let go" quite a while ago. (Hence the changing from Black stig to White Stig).

Either Ben Collins or the Multiple drivers option (which makes more sence in the long run)

As he has been smoking cigarettes rather than a hamlet cigar, it can't be Carlos Fandango with his Anglia and extra wide wheels!

PS What a great advert, anyone have an mpeg of it?

The stig is Perry Macarthy.

www.bbc.co.uk/essex/features/essex_celeb/stig.shtml

Some where very close when thinking of Damon Hill. It seems Perry is great friends with damon

---------------------------------
*UPDATE*

Didn't read all the reply's so thought ur still talking about the old stig. Is it true that the old stig, Perry Macarthy, is dead? or is it some stupid excuse because he's not in for the program anymore?

Apologies for not going back thru` this Stig time tunnel thread to check I`m not repeating someone else, but Stig no.1, Perry Mcarthy, said there are now numerous Stigs, one of which is/was Julian Bailey. Perry`s a very amiable and funny chap - get a ticket to any dinner he`s speaking at!

Hi all,

Just to set the record straight - Perry McCarthy was the old Stig.

The current Stig is usually my cousin Ben (Collins), however, if he's tied up they hire a stand-in.

Dave.

hey, just thought i would pop in and say that the old stig, perry mccarthy, left of his own accord and he did not tell the mirror it was him, you'll probably find the person behind that was the disgruntled owner of the jag he supposedly "wrecked".

cheers

[was thinking Eddie Irvine, he likes his classical music, and it is often played when he is on the top gear track

It is for certain it is not damon hill, i know this because he lives in ireland his son goes to school with my son, and at a very boozy lunch last week, he explained how it could not be, namely that he is at school every day for the last three weeks to pick up his son,and i was at the studio last week in the audience while ellen posted her time on last nights show, but my wife was speaking to him at the same time in ireland. But at the same time i have no idea who he is.

You can be sure that whoever it is is doing it for his fee.
That would eliminate people such as Hill and Irvine, who don't need the money.

As has been suggested/assumed/confirmed/guaranteed/refuted/argued many times before. I have seen enough weight of argument to be quite happy to go along with the Ben Collins theory - but it also makes sense that there is at least one backup (as has also been suggested/assumed...) for when he's off racing somewhere.

Stig II's driving always seems very on-the-edge-of-grip style rather than yer smooth in fast out, which says touring cars or rally to me. He also seems sharp at figuring out different styles of driving for different cars, is that also a clue?

Or is it just definitely Ben Collins and this post is pointless?
