TED .. how about we club together and pay this poor bloke's costs for him? would that be good or bad publicity for you? i reckon that as a decent - sounding pensioner he dererves a bit of support .. if you don't want to do it through PH maybe we could do something off-site? might get some wider coverage of the story maybe?

We should have a whip-round to pay the the old fella's fine. I'm sure 36 of us can spare £10.50

Nothing more to add to what's been mentioned other than my utter disgust at this! How the fk can someone be convicted of helping stop speeders? This just confirms what we all know, that they're out for our money.....

Jools is spot on.

Surely there is something that can be done for the old boy?

The same thought had crossed my mind. If we can find out some more details then I'll certainly consider it.

I agree. Clearly Ted has to say whether it is good or bad to have PH associated with anything, but put me down for a tenner...

Edit: Or perhaps AutoCar could be approached vis a vis their "talking sense on speed" campaign?

Been said before and no need to repeat (but I will) - this country is really on a fast slope downhill, and the sooner a political party with some common sense takes over from these s the better.

Ironically, I think the only party who've clearly indicated that they'll act to curb over-zealous speed enforcement are the BNP...

This stinks.

I know magistrate's verdicts are not binding in case law but if it were, this case would surely compel the CPS to bring cases against all the local councils and scamera partnerships that put up signs warning that roads are subject to speed checks? I mean how is what they do different to what this chap has done?

DAZ

Put me down for the campaign fund.

I seriously think this needs to be attacked from all angles.

Can any of the resident BiB's feed something back up the line about public perception of the Police not being helped by this sort of thing. Do you have that facility in the caring sharing 2004 force?

I still am quite gobsmacked, its just wrong.

This is absolutely ridiculous, what the hell has this country come to?
What on earth was the Magistrate thinking? Any half descent solicitor should blow holes in this. As previously mentioned, how can the police prove that they would have prosecuted any of the motorists that saw this guy’s sign? They are trying to convict him for loss of revenue. I thought they were operating a

Safety Camera

Count me in for £10 for the fine.

(Blood now just off the boil).
