i've been told by someone whos been there that it is julian bailey, but top gear swore him to secrecy but he couldn't hold it in anymore...

he properly saw and spoke to him and saw him climb into a radical SR3 to take it round the track which will be shown in a future episode.

to be honest this sounds more feasable than nicolas minassian, as he looks a similar build to baliey, and although he's a very capable driver (and no offence is intended here) he doesn't seem to have the most exciting personality out there.

this got rid of my previous two guesses, damon hill as thats too obvious and james munroe as he's still too much in jail!!!

There has only been three ex F1 drivers with these initials;

Corrado Fabi
Carlo Facetti
Christian Fittipaldi

[/anorak]

Can't see it being any of them!!

I suppose it's Peter Wheeler himself, who takes the chance to drive proper cars

It is indeed my car - and yes, I suspect I probably cringed a bit!

So, how do you get tickets for TG? Is there a way to apply for them? (Apologies if this has been covered already, but I can't find it!!)

Cheers,

Neil

Apparently the STIG is Julian Baily, but unless somebody can get proper proof then we cannot believe anything anybody says.

If this guy is for real then I take his point:

And this Stig just walked around with his helmet off!
How could we ever have been so silly,.. I don' t think so!
The mystery continues........

I was down on the track on Wednesday morning whilst he was waiting to take a car out (won't give it away, it'll spoil the program!) but he had to hang around whilst they were kitting it out with the cameras.

Anyway, whilst waiting, Stig and the fat one drove on to the runway and parked up some distance away.

The fat one had his arm out of the window so we're guessing that they'd both pushed off for a fag and obviously had to move away so Stig could take his helmet off.

We asked Jason Dawe about it later and he said that as he was in Motorsport, dying from smoking was the least of his worries!

So we guess he's also a smoker!

All French people smoke - so that fits!

Could be that M.Muller chappie from the BTCC. Isn't he a bit of an ice-meister too? That would fit with the way he managed to find some grip in the Maserati when it wa streaming wet and there didn't appear to be any.

Hmm, Julian Bailey is well known for smoking like a chimney, so it could be true. I can't help thinking it's Demon Damon, though.

C.F.? Very puzzling.

The guy I spoke to was definitely not Damon Hill. He was too short for starters, and I would have recognised his voice. If I remember, Damon Hill is about 6ft - this guy was no taller than 5ft 6
