PistonHeads Rolling Road Day 2
Discussion
I have a concern wich i hope you can lay to rest for me. What are the risks involved with going on a 'rolling road', i mean i saw these guys set up a mobile rolling road up at Santa Pod last year and then promptly blew up a Nissan 300zx , the test day that has been organised here looks more profesional so must have more safeguards to prevent damage, but how is this applied and can it apply to all cars?

There is no more risk than if you were taking the engine to peak power revs on the road. We keep an eye on the air fuel ratio which will usually tell us if something is wrong. We don't red line the cars, just take them to where the power curve drops.
Cars which go pop on the rollers usually do so while being tuned, if they have been tuned badly or if there is already a mechanical fault. In the case of Turbo cars, cooling is also very important.
Customers run their cars at their own risk on our road because we can have no idea whats been done to a car before it goes on the rollers and by whom.
We have never had a car go pop on our rollers. If we fell something is wrong, we stop the run.

Corvettes (and Vipers) had a great, if chilly, mid winter day out at Surrey Rolling Road today. Results confirmed that for America's finest there's no bullshit horsepower [bhp] and the cars in the showroom deliver outputs in line with specifications. Book in and enjoy the PH day next weekend.
IF it is as cold as yesterday take lots of coats! Also take your own mug as Vixpy hasn't got any
Shoebags Viper managed 494 BHP yesterday and ZR1Cliff did 532 BHP so you guys have something to shoot at for next weekend
BTW Joelism's Viper 'only' managed 902BHP not 905 in the USA....not that 3 BHP is really gonna notice if you have that many!

Joels dyno at the wheels !! so its got to be well over 1000bhp at the flywheel, which is pretty amazing to think its more than double Shoebags sporty ACR
Knowing Joel I bet there's still a few mods to come, so may around 1000 at the wheels for 2005 season would a good target to start from
Elvington will be fun this year
