My Ford GT has arrived

I thought it was 28, then there were tales of an extra car coming to the UK for a disgruntled VIP buyer who was going to miss out.
Wouldnt surprise me..
Still, 1 here or there doesnt make a huge diff to the Exclusivity of them
Looking forward to trying one once it materialises...

I was fortunate enough to drive the press car back in the summer (2 days before JC I'm told!). What an absolutely mega car. I've never allowed myself to get too attached to the cars I've been lucky enough to drive in the past but this was, well, different.
Bit disapointed to notice that the steering column and indicator stalks were EXACTLY the same as those on the Ford Focus that I'd arrived in to drive the thing...

What a dissapointment! Started off as an exciting thread about a PH'er taking delivery of a new GT. Then we get lots of complimentary and envious enthusiastic banter from PH'ers. Then we read that it has been sold onto a dealer immediately. What a let down. Wheeling & dealing is your business, but it fair burst my bubble.

Did you allow Tom Hartley to use your photo's as they are using them on their site to advertise their GT?
Tom Hartley now owns the car..
I have to go and find another now !!
(and no, I didn't make £100,000 profit)
:yies: why... you had one of the most desirable cars in the world i would never sell it if i owned one not even for a huge profit

How did you get one in the first place if only 29 are going to the uk?? are you that special??
Sounds like he bought it over in the US, shipped it here using the very favourable exchange rate and made a killing on selling it to a dealer.
As to how he got the thing in the first place, well in all likelihood someone famous over there decided to sell their claim to one.
Does the beg the question, what on earth was the point of this thread - was it to raise awareness of the car which is now available at Tom Hartley?
edit:: FWD uses firefox and adblocker as well

Interesting views.. It's pretty gutting to see it go, after all this waiting and lusting after it (and the hassle of personally importing it) But if you had the chance to make some money on a car, and had the opportunity to buy an identical one from somewhere else the next day for less than you paid for your first one, what would you do ? You'd be a liar if you said you wouldn't do the same. Bear in mind, my goal all along is to own and keep one. Expect to see Ford GT #2 in the coming weeks/month - because they are stonking, astounding cars.

I posted the thread before the car was sold.

So I assume you already had a buyer lined up before it arrived in the UK
Nope.

I think what this situation highlights is Fords disgraceful manipulation of their markets, only supplying 28/9 cars to the UK leading to premiums etc and then making them effectively off the forecourt in other parts of the world.
Quite frankly if I had received the car to find I could turn it for a large £wedge and have a similar car on the driveway by next month I'd do the same. The gain on the first car effectively reducing the cost of the second car quite significantly.
The more of these cars that make it across the Atlantic the better. Leads to more chance of seeing them out on the roads.

True but they utterly shot themselves in the foot as they could have been asking 160k each no problem. Its good they keep the run small as its the only thing that really props up a cars residuals.

I dont think the price is final yet is it?
From what I hear every time the list guys hear back from Ford the price has risen again.

Well done GT-2 man, I would have done the same.
You have mre will power than i. a friend of mine ordered a Gallardo to sell for a premium and still cant part with it to this day.
I look forward to you getting your new one.
That might be because noone is paying a premium for Gallardos tho
Still, nice car.
